hey guys, is it possible to have belt slippage at the alternator pulley ? i've got alot of black powder on the front of the casing.

how can i fix this ?? a better belt maybe ?

thanks

Check the range on the tensioner pulley. They belt may be stratched out beyond its range and you just need a new belt.

The bearings could be getting ready to or are already starting to seize. You should not hear any squealing or roughness with or without the belt on.

so im guessin just the belt needs changed ? it looks new, like out on within the last 6 months. its not a gatorback tho.

or should i go with a new alternator ? the charging system is workin good so i wouldnt think the alternator needs replacing.....

anybody ?

if and when you turn the alternator by hand and it feels like its kind of clunking and hard to spin its pretty much time for an alternator .then a new serpenteen belt(sorry about spelling) .because the alternator has chewed up the belt.
