I knew that I had a knock since day one but was told it was just the forged pistons knocking on startup until they expanded, at which point the knock would be almost gone. Well the car is runnign great, the tune Dr. Fred gave me wis working good so far but as I took the car for a spin yesterday it started to get a slight squeel, then today I took it again for a short spin and the squeel was coming back but getting worse. I only drove it maybe 5-10 minutes and the squeel got really really bad. I limped home and which point the squeel turned into rattling and knocking, I actually had to shut the car off and coast down the street into my driveway. When I tried to start it again it rattled really really bad.
My guess is a blown bearing, gonna take her apart and examine it closely. So I am done for hte year now. Maybe my uncle can make me that tubular k-member for when i get the motor back in, at least I know when its done the car will run great since the tune works good!
That's my news for today.

What the hell happened??? You just rebuilt that mill, didn't you? That motor has what? ...2500 km's on it since the rebuild? I'd suggest you do a really careful post mortem on that engine, so that the same problem doesn't occur again.
I'm really sorry to hear about this, Jamie. I was hoping to get a ride in that car to see what one of these motors could do in a lighter car with a solid rear axle.
Best regards,
Sean

Jamie, sorry about the bad news. I know what it feels like. When you do get it up and running it will be worth it.
BTW are you still going to the V6 Challenge?

Yes I will still be at the V6 Ford Challenge just not in my mustang. I will probably have Morana tear it apart and he can figure out exactly what went wrong for me! :)
Morana is going in for heart surgery the week after the race so he will be out of commission for a while but I'm in no hurry now, summer is almost over anyways! :(

sorry to hear about that. Been there. I had the same squeel and thought it was my supercharger belt slipping, I never thought it may have been a bearing spinning. Never crossed my mind.

I can relate to the several engines over a short space of time. Try to be patient when you disassemble. Finding out why is very important. Best luck with it.
{edit} I remember you saying on an email, I changed the gas, I mean oil, today ... {/edit} Was it that rich ? Whoa. Coulda a washed a bearing free of oil, and stuck it.

yeah it was soo rich at one point the oil smeeled morelike gas then oil, I was changing the oil frequently though, like every 500 km's. With your tune now though Fred, the oil smelled fine.

Jamie,
I am truly sorry to hear about this. I know Tom will make good on everything for you, so at least you don't have to worry about getting the right help. I hope this experience hasn't discouraged you too greatly, and that I'll one day get to ride in that SC Mustang.
Keep me posted...
