Guys yesturday I made the hike all the way down to Harvest, AL and buy yet another 35th 5spd. This one only has 96k miles on it and is near mint. It was quit an exciting trip to say the least. I dont have time to tell the story right at this moment as I am about to leave for my mom's place where the car is at so I can take more pics of it, but I'll give you guys a "teaser" of some of the action that went on last night :D I'll post back here later on this after noon with more pics of the car.

Good find.. The Expedition looks like a good find :p .... The 35th looks to be in good exterior shape. So what kind of plans do you got for it ???
maybe once you get more time, you can share some more pics.... :)

yeah, i was alseep in the back seat and i was awaken by a loud bang and a bouncy ride...definetly sucked...we began to get really bored waiting for the mechanic to come out and fix it...definetly sucked...we ended up losing about 3 hours of drive time because of the damn tire...insane stuff right there.

Ok so now that I have some time to sit behind the computer I'll share with you guys our story. Well we got up bright and early at 4:30am saturday morning to make the trip all the way to Alabama. One thing I learned rather quickly once we got into Kentucky and Tennessee is that my Expedition did not like towing an empty trailer up hill some freeway hills let alone with a near 4000lbs Tbird on the back of it. We made pretty good time getting down to Alabama because we were cruising constantly around 75-85mph. Once we had the car and made it to Sam's credit union so we could have the bill of sale notorized we noticed that one of the trailer's tires was flat. After closer inspection I found a nail in the tire so we put three cans of fix-a-flat in the tire and when that still did not stop the leak we got a plug for it at an auto parts store. So after about 20-40 minutes of driving on the freeway at around 80mph somewhere in Columbia, TN the truck started shaking really bad then we heard a loud BOOM! The tire had exploded and shreaded. Jim thinks that the reason the tire blew was because of all the fix-a-flat that we put in it and the speed that we were traveling on the freeway. Needless to say if it was speed related I did not learn my leason as I was back up to 75-80mph once we were back up and running again  It took the mechanic just over an hour to show up so we had to entertain ourselves to pass the time. We came up with some pretty amusing things to say the lease to pass the time  I think dealing with the tire situation added about 3-4 extra hours to the trip. We ended up getting home just past 1:30am so it was a pretty long day. Right before we got food and delt with all the trailer tires bs a member of the SCCoA actually spotted us parked next to us. His name was Don (sorry Don I forget your last name and sn on here) and was a pretty cool fellow. He has two SC that sounded pretty sweet.

Details on the car: Its a 35th 5spd with 96k on the clock. Its got an MPII, MP inlet plenum, MP 85mm TB, MP raised top, Motor sports roller rockers, UD pulleys, a smaller SC pulley, 76mm C&L MAF, cone filter, some form of aftermarket exhaust, B&M Ripper shifter, 195gph fuel pump, motor sports 30lbs injectors, and aftermarket tensor pulleys. I think that covers all the mods that it has. Its got fresh paint and the seats are completely redone (sorry I forgot to take pics of the seats). This car is near spotless but its got motor issues. Sam said that he thought the HG had blow on it. I cant smell any coolant in the exhaust but it smokes like a mother on the driver side. It looks like there is either a massive oil leak on the driver side and possibly a PCV problem. When installing my 76mm MAF this morning I found a good amount of engine oil inside the intake tube wo my guess is that the PCV value is done. Other then that the SC top got coverd in oil not to mention I found that the oil pan drain plug is all blue RTV'ed on there  I am not really to sure what cause engine oil to get pooled into the intake tube. It sure runs pretty nice for having motor issues.

Future plans: Well if I do have to take the heads off this motor then I am seriously thinking about putting a set of Dalke's heads and cam packages on this car which what Dalke said with the mods that I have now should put me around the 350HP range. Not sure if that is wheel HP or crank HP number. It needs some things here and there to make it perfect so I plan on doing those things to it.

Here are some pics of the car. Keep in mind that I have not had time to wash or wax this car yet so its a little dirty in the pics.

Got to love that sticker in your side mirror while towing those trailers. Did you get that bad vibe at about 60 that makes you think; "it is going to be a long trip", that if you drive through it, goes away at about 65?

Did towing that far with a 5.4 make you not like a 5.4 so much anymore?? ive towed equal wieght 40/50miles with one and hated it.....

I believe that is Nick's (screen name "Unclenick") old 35th. He spent a considerable amount of money restoring it after his old 90 put a rod through the oil pan. Most if not all of the mods done to the 35th came off his blown up 90. If I were you, I'd get a tune real fast. I'm sure the 90 he blew up did so due to the fact he wouldn't get a tune.

Search the Florida chapter by his user name and you will find plenty of posts regarding the 35th. After he sold the car to Sam, he disappeared... I MEAN HE LITTERALLY DISAPPEARED:rolleyes: But that is a whole other story.

OK........now here's the question.......how long did it take U-Haul to get out to you to fix the tire?

I was pulling a friends 1971 Nova on a two dolly...tire blew...took the bastards over 6 hours to get me back on my way......

Yeah I always wonder why they put that 45mph speed rating on those trailers when Uhall knows damn well no one is going to go 45mph. I have towed Uhall trailers before without feeling any vibrations. I imagine going as fast as I did, did not help matters.

Actually yes I wish the 5.4L had about 100 extra HP and 200 more TQ then it does. It deffinately did not like pulling the 35th up hills.

Bryan,

Yes this is Nick's old 35th and it does need a tune pretty bad. Its got all the mods that I listed previously and still has the stock injectors   I think I am going to get some 42lbs injectors this we and clean it up. I talked with Dave Dalke earlier today about getting it tuned here shortly after the 1st of the year. Possibly after getting the title switched over today I could wash it and wax it then take a few more pics of it.
