I've completed editing of the 6 hours of shootout footage and looks like I'll be able to fit it all on a single dual layer dvd. I still have a good couple weeks of work to do including mastering the DVD, testing compatibility, and then ordering the silkscreen printed blank DVD's to burn.
For now, here is a trailer I put together from the footage i'm using to wet your chops. Note the footage was all captured in 16:9 standard def, so the DVD will be anamorphic widescreen format.

DVD should be ready after a few weeks. It took a lot of time to edit, and working out the kinks in getting a DVD+R dual layer to work on various old dvd players will take some tweaking. (needed to pickup a new dvd burner that I could do some bitsetting on)
I got the t-shirt artwork to use for the DVD and once I can get that into a proper file for the printer, i'll be getting the blank DVD's printed. Once I get them back fron the printer, I can start burning.
I'm donating the work and materials to the shootout commitee so the costs will be set by them with all fees going back into the events.

Rough draft DVD's are going out this week to members of the shootout committee to review. Expect 3 or 4 more weeks before DVD's are available to be purchased.

Demos were sent to folks in the Shootout Committee for them to review. Edits and reviews were returned over the last few weeks with the final comments coming last weekend. I've ordered the printing on the blank DVD's and should see those into me in a few weeks. I have some final edits to do, mostly on the awards ceremony and the DVD menus. As soon as I received the printed blanks, I should be able to start burning the first batch of DVD's.
I would expect prices and how they'll be sold to be figured out by then. So say end of this month they should be available.

what are you using to edit?
I've been toying with Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas, both really good programs...
I wish I could get you to send me a few tapes hah, I'd love to play around with them and make something.

I'm doing this on the cheap, so I use what I got. Though I did buy a new DVD burner so I could change the book type and force DVD-ROM for older DVD players to work. Actual DVD's are going to be DVD+R DL.
I'm using Windows Movie Maker 2 for the editing. I played with Adobe, but it's feature set isn't significant enough for this project for me to have switched. I'm using TMPGenc 4.0 Express to encode the DV-AVI that comes out of movie maker into something that can be put on DVD. I then use TMPGenc DVD Author 2.0 to actually author the DVD, creating the menus and chapters. Nero Burning Rom Express is what's taking the output from DVD Author and burning the actual DVD.
This is a completely non-professional endeavor. I'll be providing the raw DVAVI files to the shoot-out group so that they can keep it for any future use. you can probably contact them if you want any of the footage to play with yourself.

Final approval received yesterday. I'm burning DVD's right now. Watch for a notice on how to purchase from Dave or Connie in the next couple weeks.
