Sun roof automatic stop

Hey guys, the sun roof in my 96 won't stop "automatically" like it should. If I keep my finger on the switch the glass keeps moving until it can't go any further, & then just chatters. This happens at every point at which it should stop automatically, both opening & closing. I searched on both here & TCCoA & found a few threads. Some recommended a re-synch procedure, & others recommended accessing the position switch by removing the motor. Anyone ever had this problem?

Yeah, I couldn't see it being out of synch since I haven't had it apart. Are those switches hard to get at?

I couldnt tell you...its been way too long since ive messed with one...Freedom started sending them all to the upolstery/glass place around the corner sometime around 1997. I think on some of them, Lincoln's especially, the position switch was actually part of the motor. I did mess with a few explorer sport trac's and they were in the motor...but im not for sure about our cars...
