in 89 did all SC's have 4 wheel disc?
also this sc im looking at buying the guy says its making a rear end klonking sound but he is going to throw in a new rear end with 3:73 precision gears, a rebuilt posi, all professionally assembled..

Is this a driveway jobber or would I have to take it in to get done? and how much labour do you imagine its going to cost me?

Pretty sure they all have disc on all four corners on all years.

The rear end needs to be rebuild by a professional for sure. There is all sorts od back lash, and tolerances that need to be between the gears, not for you or me! I would say to get the gears installed by a mechanic, then put in the car your self. Save a few bucks that way.

Tazer you are always welcome out here. I bet most of our cars will be put away for the winter, but hey, mine out all year long, so you travel in style if you want!

Hey, guys,
I'm new here. This is actually the first post I've replied to. I just registered tonight. I, too, am only 20. I bought my sc in the very early spring, but did not join the club till now. I also love my super coupe. Don't hate me, but I'm actually a chevy girl at heart. I've never really liked Fords, but I love my SC because it's fast! My best was a 14.4, which I hit in May at Grand Bend. I can't wait to see what it will do when it starts to cool down. The previous owner, my boyfriend hit a 14.1 last October. I plan to break thirteens. I have a fibreglass hood waiting to go on it, when I get it painted in the next few weeks. I hope to see you at the track.

Hey, welcome to the club ...

What mods are done to your SC ? Low 14s are pretty respectable for one of these cars, over a second quicker than most stock ones.

Nice to see a Chevy girl expanding her horizons, it's a big world out there !! :D

BTW a bunch of will be out to St. Thomas next weekend to run our cars, come on out if you can make it.

cheers

I'm guessing you are Andrew Tahk's girlfriend?

Chevy girl = you guys have a Z28 at home (I think)!

Are you coming to the track day on the 31st at St. Thomas?

Hi Bill.
Yes, I am Andru's girlfriend. He does have a Z28. I met you at Cayuga last October with him. As far as mods go, Dru/I have removed air silencer, K&N panel filter, 5% o.d. pulley, underdrives, and relocated the battery to the trunk. He didn't have cats but I put them back on to pass emissions. To this day he says that's why the car is slower:rolleyes: Personally, I blame it on lack of experience. I have made a total of 5 passes in my life. I can only get better....at least I hope.

Damn.........he/you ran a 14.1 and 14.4 with only those mods. That's amazing!!

I will be happy if I can get into the 14's........ and by that I mean 14.99 :)

Hey guys,
I'm not committing to anything right now, but I'd love to go to the track next weekend. The very first time I ran was in St. Thomas this spring on opening day. I ran a 14.7 and a 14.8. In May, at Grand Bend, I ran a 14.4, like I said, but in June at Grand Bend, I ran a 15.4 and a 15.7! Hopefully, it has cooled down enough out there, to get me back to my best times. I hope I can make it and I look foreward to seeing you guys there.

Kendra,

I think I met you that same day out in Cayuga. Wasn't that the day that Andru lost his key for his wheel locks, and we were scrambling to see if one of ours would fit???

I think that was the first time that Andru ran a 14.1 in that car.

We'd love to see you and Andru out at the track next weekend (even if Andru feels he needs to bring the Zedder out. ;) ).

...The more the merrier!

Best regards,

Sean

Kendra - I sold Andru those cats. So they worked OK for the emission test? Those were originals on my 93, so it might be time for you to put on some new Hi-flo ones to gain back those 3/10's of a second you lost.

Sean, Yes that was the day we lost the wheel lock key, but Dru only ran a 14.2 that day. He didn't run the 14.1 until the next week at the sc track meet.

Jim, thanx for the cats. They worked great. The car passed with flying colours. I am thinking about hi-flo ones, but right now, I can't afford to do anything to ths car, except paint it Because it Needs it! My insurance payments cost me more than enough.:( I may do a couple more little things over the winter, while she's put away.

So, is everyone going to the track this weekend? You'll know me when you see me. I'll be in the silver sc covered in rust with a dented hood and personalized plates that say DRUZGIRL. Hope to see you there.

Kendra,

I thought I was there when Andrew ran his 14.1, so perhaps I was there for both and I've just got my weekends screwed up.

Anyway, I must say that your 14.4 is very impressive! I could only muster a 15.584 my first time out earlier this summer. Of course, my car was still pretty much bone stock at that time, and it's only slightly different now.

How do you guys get around having an external battery switch with your battery mounted in the trunk? I always thought that if this was discovered during tech inspection, you wouldn't be allowed to run the car. I'm running a nice Optima yellow top battery, and I want to move it to the trunk, but I don't want to have one of those ugly switches sticking out the back of my car.

Best regards,

Sean
