Here's my two piece design for the intake. It will use a cobra inlet elbow and throttle body, then a custom aluminum box to connect it to the SC. The top of the box will bolt on, and it will bolt to the SC from the inside.

Looking good Thomas. But for right now the only way Mike will be eating dust is if you use your air hose.

I just couldn't resist that one.

handsome ;)

My goal is to get this thing ready for at least one of this year's club clash. Hopefully the spring one, but I dont want to rush it. It'll have to be tuned before I run it that hard.

I will eventually, but I still have to build a 4.3L forged shortblock along with everything pertaining to the turbo setup. This is something I can whip up really quick...in comparison.

Oh..............T................I guess I will have to be the one to tell you this... You will need to fix that hole in the intake before you can even get any boost. I know I know...it SEEMS obvious, but its true. Not only that, but you will also have to put a belt of some sort on there to spin the blower. And that cartoon inlet wont work. You have to have a REAL one in order to flow air.

*Sigh*...take the boy out of the backyard but you cant take the backyard out of the boy. I am holding the rest of you Iowa guys responsible if this does not work.

Oops Josh, I didn't get it. But now I'm game.

Chris,

Thomas has a one of a kind cartoon illustrator constructor. You draw up your cartoon and this doohickey will create the real thing.

I figured if I left that hole in the bottom open I could cap off my valve covers and use that as my PCV system. It would also double as a boost pressure relief orifice.

I decided Im going to stick a water/air intercooler inside the intake with a big heat exchanger up front, a 1 gallon tank, and a pump to circulate it all. Should be ebtter for driving it around town.

I got me one of these big ~~~ puppies. :D

http://i21.ebayimg.com/03/i/03/14/1d/60_1_b.JPG

So I guess I'm doing the water/air intercooler method. I'll be getting a 1 gallon fuel cell, probably from RCI. And a Rule pump, which is a brand they use on the GTP intercoolers. It flows ~7GPM with 3/4" lines, so that should be plenty

I also found an all aluminum heater core that's lines are 3/4" and stick straight forward, so that will be perfect, that will get here tomorrow at work. It cost me about 30 bucks with employee discount (cost). It's 5 3/32wide X 8 5/8" long X 2 1/2" thick. Major cooling!

Heat Exchanger - $225
Intercooler - $30
Pump - $60
Tank - $30

That's some cheap intercooling

you can leave me out of it! i'm still waiting for the car to be turbo'd.
if i was in thomas's shoes i'd put a set of PI heads on my v8 bird along with a turbo. then i'd be doing 'something different' and making 500+hp. just my .02 tho:cool:

PI heads? I've got an all aluminum DOHC in the garage foo! Just need to put it back together with new bearings and gaskets. Also got cobra cams, and a lincoln continental intake, which is all cast aluminum, and can be extremely ported. Lookin for 300rwhp NA. Turbo? maybe. Probably not though. Not for at least 5 years anyway.

however once the bird is finished I'll be rolling into a lincoln ls

well, thought I would give you guys an update...

I've got most of the parts I need to start making the intake manifold. I still need to figure out how I'm going to make the intercooler work. Working on a way to put it through the intake wall. Probably going to be very custom, so much that I'm considering patenting it when I'm done with it. It will be some type of o-ring bulkhead. I need to design this before I get anything done on the intake though, unfortunately, because depending on what I come up with could alter the design/shape of the intake itself.
