Hey. A guy in a purple Lincoln Mark VIII told me about this place today, figured I'd see for myself. Are non-Supercoupe Thunderbird owners welcome here? Anyways, figured I'd ask about a transmission for my 97 V8. If anybody has one, let me know, mine's on the fritz. Or if there are upgrades available, I'm open to those too.

I like to think that anyone with a MN12 based bird or cougar is welcome. The site however pretty much supports the SC community. Most people with v-8 or n/a birds hit up the TCCOA website. As most parts for sale here are targeted for SCs, the other site sells mostly v-8 stuff. I visit both but prefer this one since I am an SC owner. Good luck!

im a non supercoupe owner and i hang around here often. as far as tranny a cheap upgrade would be a 99+ tranny out of a mustang crown vic or maurader. you will have to repin the harness but is has much better internals. Also while its out you can shift kit it, which will save wear and tear on the tranny. A new tourqe converter will do wonders for our cars, and since the tranny is already out you might as well slap it in.

i heard that you can swap in a supercoupe stickshift with minimal modifications, but i don't know the specifics. has anyone else heard of this? if so, i'd love to try it.

nope you cannot. The manual tranny for the supercoupe will not bolt up to your 4.6l. The only thing you can do is get a T45 from a mustang, but it is ALOT of work swaping it in. I read every article on it and after that i have no desire to even try it.
