SC running bad

Hey all you SC fanatics. I'm trying to get my Brothers Black 94 SC running
for him. He had it towed here and borrowed one of my old cars so he can
get to work. It shut down on him, cooled down and started for a short time.
It starts right up and no cel comes on. It craps all over itself under hard
acceleration, popping and all ( its muffled). I had it to a guy and he said
no codes came up. I changed the cam sensor (stator) and it still does it.
The car has 89,000 on it and has been well maintained. The mech. told me
after the cam sensor to change the crank sensor. Is that the next thing to
do? And then what's next?
Thanks, Ron

Can you expand on this? What exactly happened? It died on him while driving and then started back up after a while? Does it start and run fine now as long as you stay out of boost? Are you only having running problems while under boost? If you aren't getting any codes I would suspect the plugs and wires are your problem. Do you have good fuel pressure on the rail?

Yea I agree If it bucks like a pissed mule when you floor it you need to start at the plugs and wires. bad ones will make it run like $#!+ at WOT....

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes it starts and runs fine sitting there.
I did change the fuel filter first of all. Then changed the cam sensor.
I just went out and started it and no sparks under the hood . It's dark
and nothing arcing. Monday I'll do the dance with the plugs and wires.
I'll go to Ford and buy their wires. Thanks again, I hope this fixes it.

Check the CATS - they may be clogged. If the car starts and idles, let it warm up and see if the cats turn cherry red. It means they've collapsed inside and are blocking the engine exhaust.

Also test the coil to see if all are firing. With engine running, pull one wire at a time and see what kind of arc you get. Should be strong and bright.

On my '95, it started running like crap and got worse. Turned out to be a massive air leak as the seal on the SC top and tubes had let go. Resealed and tightened the tubes - no more problem.

Good luck,
Mark
