Hello Folks. All the way up through high school I have been drving a 78 mustang II with the V6 in it. I want something newer and quicker. Im a big fan of the of the super birds/cougars,(my dad had an 89 SC) but there happens to be a really great 88 Turbo Coupe here in my little town in Northwest Kansas. Its got 96000 miles, cloth, and premium sound. I know its never really had the crap tore out of it cause this really gentle girl has been driving it since it had 32000 miles on it. I could easily aquire this car for around 3000. Do the turbos have the same potential as the SC stuff? Also any ideas how to peddle a Mustang II in a timley manner? Thanks

I bought an 88 Turbo coupe automatic, hoping that it would satisfy my want for an SC. I wasn't all that impressed. The 4 cyl turbo would be a great motor in a much smaller and better suspensioned car, but not for a 3400 pound vehicle. The car did feel like it had about the power of a stock non-HO V8, but I wanted the torque of a built small block. I've heard that the 5-spds were a bit quicker, but I'd still say find a nice SC (they're out there for $3000, got mine for $1000 with perfect interior and body, blown hg's). Don't be afraid to travel for one. Where are you located? I'm in Wichita.
Just my $.02

I'm in Goodland Kansas if you know where that is. So I guess I'll Keep my eyes open for a cheap SC. Ive never seen one go for less than 3500. I'll start saving money. LOL, I was in colby tonight and my buddy's 95 Monte Carlo got smoked by a silver 89. It was great.
Thanks Folks,

I'd just keep your eye out on here and ebay. I've seen several for under $3000 as close as KC or Denver. I ended up going to St. Louis to get mine a few weeks ago. Got a heck of a deal.
Good Luck

I've moved on to other obsessions. I'm into Chrysler Conquests now. I still love the SC's, but have decided that the turbo cars have so much more potential. There are at least 1 or 2 enthusiasts still around here... but I never really got in contact with them.
