Welcome to sc ownership I guess - I just bought a 90 sc with 80k miles on her - the car is mint - interior has no rips or tears - juat did the rar brakes - car was in the shop - when I went to pick it up - they told me the car was on the lift for a few hours and all of a sudden they heard a lond bang - and frean started to come out - the high pressure line blew right at the connector where the lines mate - when I got the car a few days ago the ac was not working - I added one can of charge and the compressor turned on and the car got cold - could I have done this? or could the joint have been weak? What would have caused this??? Ideas?

ANy thoughts - would a regular repair shop be able to fix this or do I need a specialist?

Thanks in advance

The spring clips that Ford used for AC and Fuel connection are notorious fror leakage etc...
There is a servioce bulletin (I believe) that tells of this and a retrofit for these clamp like things that bolt over the connections and keep them from flexing, thereby presumably preventing problems like yours. Both my SCs have them now. Last time I went to have my A/C serviced the mechanic told me about the whole deal and installed the kit.
Very few service people know more about car A/C then the ones in the Southwest.;)

By the way, The SC A/C holds a Pantload of Freon, so unless yours was full before, you probably didn't cause it. More likely it just blew the freon out that you put in because it had been un-pressurised for so long.

The can you added allowed the pressure to increase, possibly to normal pressure which caused the questionable connection to fail.

You just bought it. Maybe it broke before and someone did a temp repair to it that didn't hold.
