Are there any real head gasket solutions that work or any aftermarket
ones that take care of this problem?

The best way to take care of the issue is to open the exhast and get good HG's. If you open up the exhaust so it can flow better, and slap on some MLS headgaskets, you shouldn't have any issues with a mostly stock config. You could then quite safely run a 5% pulley and not have to worry much about popping the HG's.

prevent detonation and overheating. those are the #1 reasons they blow.

If you do a head gasket job, make sure to get the heads shaved to clean them up and get them flat .005 " usually does it .010" max
The folks at the machine shop can advise you.

clean the deck untill you can eat off of it.

ARP studs beat streach bolts, spend the dough and get the studs
and a good torque wrench.
