not sure about this one, looking for a sc to buy
well i found one in the Buy & Sell on the homepage
its a 1989 SC, 270,000 kms
all ford logo's and front bottom corning lights have been shaved
the corner lamps have been painted black with that blackout stuff..
its been lowered by cutting the springs
the headgaskets were done last june less then 20,000 kms ago
he rebuilt the entire engine and used felpro headgaskets...
the tranny was rebuilt less then 8000 kms ago and a centerforce clutch (60% more holding power) was put in
oh its a 5 speed btw (KICK ~~~)
it has power everything including moonroof, but the power mirrors and keyless entry dont work..
doesnt have the light package like my LX..
the rear end just recently started making a klonking sound which he thinks is the posi carrier plates
if he gets what hes asking for he will install all new rear end that was prof assembled with posi and 3:73 precision gears
its got new brake pads all around
new water pump
ported and polished heads
ported supercharger
3/4 raised supercharger
hollowed cats, but comes with a good set
ram air set up with a cold box
he says it will do mid 13's to high 13's in the 1/4
tinted windows
and the air works
here are some pics
front/side angle (http://members.rogers.com/rdeumer/TBIRD1.jpg)
Side (http://members.rogers.com/rdeumer/TBIRD2.jpg)
Front (http://members.rogers.com/rdeumer/TBIRD3.jpg)
so all this for 3500
thats his bottom price
now i can get 2000 for my 89 lx maybe
but what u guys think
i was really looking for a sc under 200k but i can see its impossible
but i figure all this has been rebuilt...
thanks for your input
Bruce (hopefully a sc owner this week)

Is there paper work for the heads and ALL the other work? I think the car looks good, how does it run? Have you driven it? Get the guy to bring the car to the wed. night meet. Mid to high 13's....probable not, but its still sound like from the list of parts thats it fast. $3500 is not a lot for a car, so me, I would jump all over it, if he showed me paper work. The glass, I would say get a wreck ans switch it over. Look under the post PARTS CAR maybe that might help you out some. Good luck with it.

if its in nice state im going to sell my bird to my buddy for 2000 and toss in the 1500 but to my knowledge a windshield is like 450 bucks i think
so u know.. heh
but didnt think of that
thanks Ryan

I believe Sean Matteson has met Ron Fountain.
Did he tell you why he is selling?
Who ported the supercharger and heads?
Curious.

08-20-2002, 12:21 AM
nope havent gotten a reason to why he is selling,
didnt even ask who ported the sc and heads, from what i am to understand he did all the engine work,
my main point of interest was the headgaskets
u know this bitch ~~~ 3.8's and thier heads..
but he just told me the other day that the windshield is cracked
and that the springs are cut not a pro kit put in
but i mean the 2 places i got my car certified they didnt check springs heh

I think that car has the driveshaft from my parts car in it. I met Ron. He seemed like a great guy. I'm not sure why he's parting with the car. I'd be a little leary of a car lowered by cutting the springs, but then again you can replace those with a nice set of Eibach's easily enough.
I thought Ron told me that he had never run the car at the track, so I'm not sure how he would know just how quick the car was. In any case, $3500 doesn't sound like a lot of money. A year ago this past July I paid a Ford dealership $7500 for my '90, and it had about 130,000 km's on it then. I probably paid a little more than I should have in hindsight, but the car was in pretty good shape. Certainly, I would have rather paid $7000 for the '95 5-spd that Ryan picked up, but I didn't see any deals like that at the time.
Ryan, did you buy Paul Harrison's car? I had approached Paul regarding the rims off that car, but it sounded like they were just the 7" or 8" wide version of the Cobra R's, and I really wanted something 8.5" or 9" wide minimum. It sounded like it needed a lot of work too.
Best regards,
Sean

I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF CHOPPED SPRINGS BUT 3500.00 SEEMS LIKE A GREAT PRICE.I DON'T KNOW WHY HE ISN'T ASKING FOR MORE...MAYBE THE HIGH MILEGE BUT IF YOU PLAN ON KEEPING IT AS A LIFELONG CAR IT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM.

Harrisons car is in the hands.......................of one my buddies.
The wheels are JUST 7" wide, but they ARE nice. Who didn't make an offer on those, I still am!
By the way......it was $6500 for the '95!(what a steal, I know)
For insuranec, I'm not sure if many will tell, you know with money, people get funny, but I will.
I'm 24, no accidents(yet) One speeding ticket 170km's
Have three cars under my name.
1st. '87 topaz 4 door. 6 months off the road, then on for winter. chaepest possible coverage.
2nd. '90 SC. currently just have fire and theft on this one. it's sits in my drivway without a motor.
3rd. '95 SC. full coverage! with a upgraded $2500 for stereo, which is covered under the car.
Tatol for the year is just over $2200. Thats just under $200 a month!
One, Well two questions for you T1bird.
How long have you had a car under your name, for insurance? did you know that the longer you are insured for the cheaper it will get, without any claims.
Have you ever owned a SC? I feel it is worth the extra coin. Do any of your friends have a car as nice as the one you are looking at?

I've had my car under my name for a year now no collision thou..
pay 220 a month
thats with 2 speeding tickets that are coming off this Sept for doing 65 in a 50 and 70 in a 60
total bs it was
none of my friends have cars
they all took the college/university route
i went right to work out of HS
but they are all about jap crap
the main reason i want the SC isnt for the power
its for the 5 speed
im bored with my bird and its to much of a hassel to convert it over to a 5 speed
but the power is just another plus :D
im hopefully going to see the car monday night if its ok with him.. if it drives nice i will give him the 3500 hes asking for
because he said he would change over the rear end and put the stock springs in if i want and put on the good cats and leave the hallowed out ones in the trunk for me
Just recently have I got this obsession with SC's
i live in Milton and i know where every SC in town is..
i know its small but its sick i can point out a sc or bird house anywhere
just call me a SC stalker!

well i asked why he was selling and he said its because he just bought a new mustang,
wanted something that was fast without adding any power mods
traitor...
just kidding but yeah it sounds like its in really nice condition
i just have to see it before making any final decisions

I certainly don't want to scare you off, but I feel it's only fair to warn you that these cars are fairly expensive to operate, and very expensive to modify. Consider that they should only be run on premium unleaded fuel (have you checked the price of this stuff at the pump). Unless you're really handy, changing the spark plugs can be a chore, never mind replacing head gaskets, or some of the other more serious repairs that these cars often require. It's got four wheel independant suspension and rear wheel drive - a combination that means suspension parts tend to be expensive. Because they were produced in small numbers compared to Mustangs or Civics, any aftermarket goodies tend to be ridiculously priced.
That being said, I've driven few cars in my lifetime that can be as comfortable as my SuperCoupe and still offer great performance. Certainly, any that I have driven cost at least 50% more than my SuperCoupe would have when brand new! I think that the SC's have a timeless look, and seem modern even on today's standards.
Regardless of whether you buy this car from Ron or not, I think you're welcome here on this forum. My suggestion to you is that you take the time to do your homework before making a purchase. This forum is a great tool for accomplishing this!
Best regards,
Sean

oh i know this, my uncle owns the winners circle in brampton he deals with over 15 different corvettes a week ive seen prices of those parts...
I was with my dad when he bought his 89 lx from the guelph ford dealership, sure i was young but there was a black sc sitting beside it i wanted him to get but he didnt because it wasnt power everything.. ive done the head gaskets myself on my bird once after ford did it and they blew again.....
i took 5 years of autoshop in HS and a years apprenticeship through white oaks secondary advancement classes but then moved on to be a welder/fitter
plus i baby my car, real bad, im the guy who walks to work if its raining out just cause i dont want to get my car dirty or all underneath mucked up
im most likely going to buy the sc from ron because hes going to fix the excaust for me and put the stock springs back on for a good price
but im going to keep my bird also
Thanks Sean for the thought, believe me ive thought it all through and almost was going to just leave it to im older but i started my apprenticeship working 40 hrs there and 24-30 at another place
im making nice money, real nice money for a 20 yr old i think
so what else am i gonna do
saving it is no fun =)

My thought is, who cares if it needs repairs. With these cars, you will need it sooner or later anyways, so you might as well fix it now.
Are you planning on putting proper corners back on?
Oh, and my insurance is $970/year. A buddy of mine who is 20 got a really good deal on his insurance, I'll try to find out what company he is with.

Well, mine is always breaking, some damn thing or another. On the plus side, when she is running good, man it's nice. All cars seemed to be made just to break down!!
Ah Bill, "true widom" is ONLY achieved in owning a '95 SC

I agree about true wisdom and the 95 SC thing :D
wish i had the money for a 94 or 95 SC but with a stick
but why does every one always shoot down the auto's as if they are no good. An auto with the proper goodies can be as well as or even more efficient than a stick car.

Hey Ryan, Question for you
I noticed you live in Oakville, have you ever been to a yard called Special Interest Cars
its on 451 Woody Rd
a friend of mine has a lincon mark8 and was looking for a fron right headlight and was told to go there,
so he went there and he picked up a brand new one for 90 bucks
90 BUCKS
apparently its a older gentleman that owns the place and what he does is go over to the states and brings home complete cars and strips them down
he deals with nothing but fords
and its all in his head
no computers
if he has it he can tell u where it is the colour, the shape and how much...
might be worth looking into if you need any parts
my buddy said he saw 6 or so SC's just stacked on each other on a rack heh
