if you were to make a detailed list of all the engine mods to do to your SC....what would it be in chronological order?? I know exhaust would be first, but then it gets a little sketchy with OD pulleys, intake plenums, MAF, chips, larger throttle body etc
thanks for your time

Darryl:
I didn't realize the list was that long until writing it all down. I would have saved a ton by stopping at 13.8 (my original goal) instead of changing it to 12.8. No wonder my wife has cut off the car funding for a while.

Mods in order that I would do them if I were to do it again....
1.
180 degree thermostat and rewired cooling fan.
remove resonator
APP103 (colder plugs)
big fan of homemade ram air
CAI of some sort
73-76MM mass air
5% pulley
upgrade rear end gears
block SC bleeder hose
That will get you solidly into the 14's, won't break the bank, and won't affect reliablilty.
2.
Underdrive pulleys
2.25" X-pipe and move the cats back to the rear end of the tranny (or remove them altogether)
Headwork and cam
Port exhaust manifolds
Now you have spent some good change, but the result is a much more fun-to-drive car, and lower boost. Probably about 9psi. Car should run low 14's.
3.
42lb injectors and 255lph fuel pump
75MM TB and a blower upgrade of choice
aluminum flywheel/CF clutch or high stall converter and lentech
IC upgrade
Now your car will be running mid 13's and will require DR's or better to hook up. It can still be a stock bottom end, but you are at about the limit. You will be looking at engine management in a whole new way, and the prospect of going much faster gets a little ominous.
Did I miss anything important?

5% pulley worth it
Densecharger CAI w/ Kand N filter worth it. ( same as all the other inlets/airboxes)
Flowmaster FOrce II cat back system nice sound
cats removed replaced with 2/1/4 in tubes

What about a raised top and EEC tuner Dave? Where would those fit in?
Heres my combo for now:
SCP Intake: Sorta worth it, not much more power increase than just removing the silencer. A little more SC whine.
EEC Tuner: Not worth it stock unless you can get a good deal on it (I did) and like messing with idle and fan settings.
B&M Ripper Shifter: Easily worth it, quicker, more precise shifts. Feels more solid than stock.
Results:
15.213 at 92.24mph on my fourth 1/4mile run ever. Im hoping for a sub-15sec time with some better tires in the next few weeks.

Travis - they don't.
Boomin Boy - I prefer the ZR motorsports although I have a MAC and it seems to work well. As far as a ram air goes, ya gotta build your own.

Ya borlas are worth it. Only thing I would do different is possibly get the longer ones for a little deeper sounds. There is no drone whatsoever. I had nastly high load, low rpms drone with the dynomax... just puttin on the borlas killed that.

David Neibert
09-05-2002, 09:23 AM
It's the 4 or 5 inch long vacuum hose that connects the Intake Plenum to the Intake Manifold adaptor.
Removing it and capping the ports saves a small amount of boost from leaking over to the Intake Plenum when the bypass valve is closed. It also makes the bypass much more sensative and causes it to close quicker.
I had mine blocked for several months, but got annoyed by the supercharger whine everytime you barely touch the gas pedal. Couldn't tell any improvement power wise, just makes the throttle a little more responsive and burns more gas.

Found this thread looking for something else and I got a good kick out of it. Back when we were all running 13's and it seemed like 11's were out of the question. LMAO!
Anyway, it would be cool for some people to list what they've done these days to get to a certain performance level. It would be neat to see how people's perceptions have changed.
Of course not everyone here had posted their results with their mods. It would be nice to see the results posted with whatever it is that you've done with your SC.

When I started out I did a lot of stuff at once:
Exhaust
190fuel pump
3.27 gears
K&N filter and removed silencer
S-Model blower
3/4 raised top
75mm MAF & 70mm TB
Exhaust 2.25 dual - 2.5 Single - 2.25 dual out with high flow cats.
I eventaully got to a 13.94 from this on stock injectors and stock unported maniflds using BFG DR's.
Then I added:
UD pulleys
ZR Motorsport intake
Ripper Shifter
28lb flywheel
With this I got 13.82 @ 98.8mph again with lots of practice and 254hp/357rwt on the dyno.
Then I added:
eec tuner
180 deg Tstat
255 fuel pump
mild ported heads with stock valves
mild cam 208/509 crane grind
Double IC
ported exaust maniflds
42lb injectors
eec tuner
I never improved my time with this setup due to rusty driving skills, but got 277hp/368rwt
Got it tuned by XR7Dave to 287rwhp/377rwt
Then I added the AUTOROTOR!
No other changes made under the hood besides AR. With a bad tune and still poor driving skills I got a 13.2 @ 105 on ET streets.
I have added 50lb injectors and got it tuned properly but no dyno #'s or ET's yet. I would like to make a few minor changes(Add Alc Inj, IC fan, better exhaust) and see what it will do when I get out again.
