Ok, Long story short, FedEx sucks if you want to ship big rims to the USA from Canada. After getting jerked around for almost a month, the rims came back to me cause they never cleared customs.
What we are looking to do is for me to cross the border with the rims, and have them shipped out from the US to save me from all the customs/border crap. If anybody here can help us out, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
What I will do is drive across to meet with you and then head over to the nearest shipping office once I find out a price for shipping from where you are from.
Thanks and hope you can help some fellow SCCoO'ers out.

Anyone will to do this for me I'd be EXTREMELY thankful also! I'm the buyer.
I bought these wheels and after getting to speak with lovely FedEx for the 5th time today I found out the issue at hand has to do with the tires on the rims. Since the tires are DOT regulated I have to be able to inform FedEx where they were made and if they meet DOT standards. Next I would need Power of Attorney for customs due to the object of the item being cleared into the US and then pay their fees for going through their customs agency.
Needless to say, these wheels were shipped ORGINALLY on 3/12 - due at my door on 3/19. FedEx first informed me they were lost in customs, then they were left on the truck, then they were lost again...needless by doing it like this it will save a bunch MORE PITA.
Any help again I'd be extremely greatful!
Thanks!

why dont you just drive acoss the border to a fedex and ship them? They wont care where you are from, as long as it in a domestic shipment (USA to USA)

tell me about it I keep on running into trouble for over a month ive sent out and got back because of customs a raised top ive sold . dude must be mad as hell at me .
from calif to mississauga ontario should take two day -7 days but it comes back in 10 days first it smells on chemicals we had to open it pleasae repackage it in non chemical laced pakage it had some laquer thinner driped on it and was near a can of gun sweets" cleaner"
then they say I claimed non realistic value of item. we are so much alike our brothers to the north yet Ive sent stuff to scandanavia without problems .

I agree with you on that one Manny! This has been a totally horrible experience again with FedEx shipping, it's always something or the other when shipping items of actual value with them.
I couldn't beleive it when she asked me if I could inform her where the tires were orginally made and also the same for the rims. I informed her for all I knew they were made in China . Then I remembered I have the same great job with a telephone company and didn't get rude with her...
It's been a fun learning experience and if it weren't for a great seller going through all this I'm sure it would be a real PITA.

I would help but I'm way on the other side of the state.
Damn customs. Do canadian tires or "tyres" not have DOT number? The DOT number on a tire is a sequence of letters and numbers that state what plant, line, and date (week and year) the tires were made. I know all tires made for sale here have the number. I don't know what goes on in canukistan up north.
If you cross the country line with the tires and rims in your trunk and back seat won't they say anything then? Or is it only when you box them up to ship them?
I'd just drive to Michigan, ship them from a UPS or Fed-Ex facility in Detroit and give a local guys address. Then it's just shipping from MI to VA and should only be 4-5 days then. (for some reason MI to VA takes forever) I used to live in VA and have sent and recieved stuff to and from MI and it took forever by postal and ups.

if your shipping from USA to Canada ship through the post office, cheaper for the receiver cause no brokerage fees, I have never had a problem getting stuff fromt eh states. As far as going from Canada to the US I also have never had a problem, I work for a courier company and ship stuff tothe states on a regualr basis, just have to fill our a customs form delcaring how much they are worth, I can't see why your rims did not clear customs, if you put a vaule onthem I don't see why they would be suspicious and not let them clear. How far are you from the Niagara Region? I work for Purolator and get a discount on shipping.

I live in Windsor, I do not know exactly why they would not clear, I guess it was Tire related. Which is BS cause I filled out all the forms.

Jamie, Canada Post will not ship such huge packages like rims. They will ask you to use Canpar/Purolator/FedEx/DHL/UPS
