well i did get the heads off a week ago ,however a bolt broke off in the intake manifold -last hole drivers side ,at about the head level -fun
--electro-corrion is what it look like.
weathers still shakey...so ,
got bored and decided to do a bit of porting ,most of it on the exhaust side and a slight polish ,and did clean-up in the intake side runners and valve pockets as well-mild and did a lapping of the valves ,still need to remove the broken intake bolt from the head.

if pulling off the manifold -replace the bolts with a 10.9 grade__Replace - intake bolts ,they are M8 x 55mm x 1.25 pitch ,use a Grade 10.9 bolts yellow zinc ,suggest adding ,USS 1/4" grade 8 yellow zinc washer.

? how much porting should i maybe do on the intake side runners ( heads ) ,-will it help ,other than a gasket match.

how about the intake manifold ,what should i do on it...i will not be cutting the intake tri-angle thingy out ,off the manifold ,don't feel like doing any welding -the gains just don't seem to be worth-it.

? on the throttle body -i think thats what it is -there are a couple small rubber water-line hoses that go to it -is that needed

is there anything else i might do ,before starting to put back it back together
that might help ,performance wise?

thanks
cheers :)

did u blow a head gasket ?

i pulled my heads off about 3 months ago just for fun. i gasket matched the intake side of the heads and the intake manifold, smoothed rough edges and polished. take the gasket that goes between the intake manifold and return plenum and gasket match that and polish.

dont gasket match the exhaust side just smooth out the sharp edges on the short side radius(you'll feel what im talkin about), clean all the crap out, and polish.

then have a 3 angle valve job done and resurface the heads. u need them to mate up to the block as flat as possible for a good seal.

oh and cut the fittings off the TB and use one of them to mate the coolant lines running thru it. get rid of that stupid crap.

other stuff i did while i had everything out anyway:

-motor mounts(y not if they look bad)
-water pump(if you're in the 100k in miles and its original, might as well do it now.
-ported exhaust manifolds(they're off the car anyway right ?)
