trans questions 5 speed

89 sc trans does not fully engauge in all gears. I verified this two ways one. aftermarket shifter installed by a moron, two if i park the car on a hill and put it in any gear she;ll still roll and it grinds in one two and three. Anything sticks out to you guys besides starting with the aftermarket shifter or is it something else? thanks.

Sounds like it might be the shifter to me, if it’s popping out of gear while it’s parked. Sounds like it’s not going into gear all the way. B&M is the only one that I know of that makes an after market shifter for an SC. As they age the 5-speeds will grind going into gear sometimes. I would try and find a good stock shifter and change it out first to see or you could buy a new B&M. Good Luck

yeah if anyone here has a nice used one, would like that instead of this one. or get a brand new bm if they still make em.
