Painting engine block

I'm getting my reassembled shortblock back from the machine shop this weekend. Everything was cleaned but the outside of the block still looks bad. Is it OK to go over it with some engine paint? Thanks

Jeremy

Paint it yourself. Mask off all sealing surfaces.

Use high temp engine paint. Powdercoat would be overkill. Just make sure you clean it off real well.

Thats what I'm going for. Not that color but something that looks like that. What would be the best way to clean it off? Thanks

Jeremy

Yes I painted it myself, its really not hard to do. The total cost was $27.30. The inside of the block is coated with Glyptal red paint to help oil drain back into the sump. The outside of the block is painted with Plasticolor Ford blue engine enamel. There is no powdercoating here.
