a/c delete

i am currently deleting the ac system on my car.. ive read through al the threads on ac delete, on how to mod the tensioner ro go the other way or just get an idler pull to replace the condenser or delete the tensioner altogether.

what im wondering is, why can't you jsut get a shorter belt? run the belt the same way and dont touch the tensioner, just get the shorter belt and slap it on. wouldnt that work? im going to go buy a belt tomorrow and try it, unless someone has done this and tell me what size i need exactly. the only prob i can see is that the w/p pulley is an overdrive pulley, but does it make that much of a difference? i cant see it slipping any.

nevermind im an idiot

ill keep it up though so others wont make this mistake.

i forgot the water pump is directional, so you cannot go over.

You can do it.. The problem is the tensioner will not give enough tension to keep even the smallest tightest belt from slipping even at idle.. Gonna have to use a belt tensioner from an N/A Tbird which is ribbed and tensions opposite of the what the stock tensioner does..
