95 SC Air Conditioner recharge

Hey, in this 95 SC, what s in the AC system? Is it freeon ( I know I cant spell) or is it that new stuff? If its the new stuff can I just bu one of those kits and do it myself or will I have to take it in and have it done? Thanks guys.

94 and newer are R134A cars you can tell by the fittings.If the service ports have screw threads then it is a R12 car if it has a quick disconnect style fitting it is a R134a system.

You should be OK using one of the kits (be sure to attach it to the low-pressure side)... Get one that has the cheapo gauge on it so you will have an idea of the charge level. Some folks will slam me for suggesting this, but I converted my '92 SC from the old refrigerant to 134 several years ago using a DIY kit from WalMart... No problems at all with my A/C, and the weather gets plenty hot in Atlanta in the summer....
