Radiator Hose

Should the radiator hose connected to the water pump have a coil inside of them... it looks kind of like a spring? Is it bad if the coil doesnt extend to the length of the hose? THanx in advance!

I think the "spring" is to help the hose keep its shape. And no, it doesn't extend to the end. I am so cheap/stupid I usually blow a hose before I accept the fact that it is bad, so I am not the best at telling you how to tell if it needs replaced. But if you squeze it and it feels like it is fragile, or you know/suspect it has a lot of time/miles on it, they ARE CHEAP at any autparts store.

The lower radiator hose should definitely have a spring inside. The spring typically runs most of the length of the hose. It's there to keep the hose from collapsing under high RPM. If you replace the hose, make sure it either comes with a spring (Goodyear & Gates don't) or transfer the spring from your old hose (sometimes easier said than done).
