I took our 3 year old to speech this morning and when I was backing out of the parking space to leave, it looked as though the curb where the car had been parked was wet. I thought to myself, surely that couldn't have come from my car.

Just to make sure, I popped the hood when we got home (only about 4 miles) to have a look see and sure enough, the top radiator hose was busted right where the curve is before connecting to the radiator.

So looks like I'll be spending the birthday money I didn't get yesterday on a new hose. :( Hope the under hood areas dry out.

I should have replaced both hoses last year (about this time) when I was putting the car together. But you know I was thinking, what are the odds they will go bad in a year?

I tell ya, I just can't catch a break. Put the new upper hose on and refilled with coolant and let it run a little. Evidently, the new hose was a little longer  and me trying to watch the kids and not fully paying attention to things, didn't bother to see if the hose was clearing the sc belt.

It has a small groove in it. Don't know if it's bad enough to leak, but looks like I'll be putting another one on it tomorrow. Lucky for me they aren't expensive. :p Maybe I should buy in bulk.

If my theromstat was sticking, would it cause the top hose to blow? The temp gauge doesn't seem to be going up as high as it usually does before the t-stat opens.
