How many people have the air lift kit in thier rear springs and still pull off decent 60' times at the track?, my 275 tires rub, not sure if i can roll the fenders as the car was just painted, other option is the lift kit, but Im concerned it will alter my 60ft times, any opinions would be appreciated.

Airlift bags have been used in coil spring cars for years to help improve traction and 60 ft times at the dragstrip not to mention helping to eliminate wheel hop.So if anything you're 60ft time will improve not get worse.

I pull similar 60ft's without wheel hop and have used air lift bags to control tire clearance issues for years.

When you go to the track Tony, how much pressure do you leave in your air bags with your slicks on?

I don't ever pay attention to the pressure but it is way higher than just a couple psi. I usually watch the quarter panel lip come up until it stops rising easily.

I blew one of those on my car. Too much pressure the sound of it sounded like a shotgun. I think mine are deflated, since I went for a ride in the rain and was wheel hopping. It does help but it does not eliminate it.

I've had a set of air lift bags in my 91 for about 5 years. Mine are only inflated to about 4 or 5 psi to control rear tire rub. Best 60 ft is 1.52.

Since my car is a 90, i need the 89-91 bag, of 60789, but 91-97 has a different part number, with my car being lowered ive been told to go with the shorter of the 2 bags, Dave did you use the early style bag
Thanks guys for the help.

Bruce,

The 89-91 bags are shorter than the 92-97 bags. This is due to the absence of the factory bumpstops in the 92-97 MN12 rear coils.

My advice would be to remove the factory bumpstops in your 90, and run the taller bags. The factory bumpstops have sharp points/edges that can puncture/wear through the bags over time.

I've installed both styles in three MN12's now, and I've always been pleased with them. I usually run 25 psi in both bags on the street. At the track, I run 10 psi in the driverside bag, and 15 psi in the passenger side bag.

Bruce,
I have a set in my car with street tires at the track I had a lot of wheel hop I have not tryed the drag tires.
Like Rod said get the 92 and up bags and remove the bumpstop works much better thats what I did to cover the fittings up so they would not hit on the holes where the bumpstops were I cut a hockey puck in 1/2 and drilled a hole has not come off yet.

Bruce,

Yes, I used the early style bags with H&R lowering springs.

Also, just to add a little more info, the factory bumpstops simply unscrew from the unibody. I use a large crescent wrench to do the job.

Like everyone else said they will only help.

I run mine at 25-30 PSI on both sides for the street and the track...it does help a lot with wheelhop when your not running slicks.
