Is the alternator pulley neccicery for the proper operation of a Underdrive pulley set? or does everything still line up properly etc?? found a set with just the water pump and crank pulley and wondered...

I say yes it's necessary. It is substantially larger than stock and I cannot see the tensioner as being able to make up the difference.

I ran a set with just the crank and water pump pulleys on. Never got around to putting the alternator one on, but it worked, although the belt was really close to hitting itself.

well i was wondering as i am wanting to install a bhj balancer so i thougt i would need the underdrives...

If you are wanting to use a zero-balanced crank pulley then maybe get the MP 10% OD pulley? :D

I've got ported heads,intake,exhaust manifolds stock blower ported inlet plenum 5% sc od catless downtubes IC fan and getting a mild cam.... i dunno about 10%.......Maybe in the future??

Hey Jacob, I just happen to have an extra stock-sized aluminum crank pulley if your interested. It's zero balanced, so it'll work well with your BHJ. Let me know! :cool:
