Got the new July MM&FF today and there is a Super Coupe build up. The article is called Birds of Prey. Just did some basic stuff, but they said "perhaps we'll continue the hunt (for 300 rwhp) in future issues".

Well then the only parts they need to get 300 HP is

10% pulley and some good plug wires lol

It's not on a website, but I can take it to work and scan it in tomorrow if you guys want. I don't think they said who's car it is, but it's a 1990 5 speed with 180,000 miles. On super flow chassis dyno it made baseline of 192 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.

Does it show the car? maybe a baseline 1/4 mile run..........gateway?

Drat !! I got halfway thru the article that was posted before it got deleted. Suprised to see the statement about there being rumors of some SCs making over 300 rwhp but they haven't confirmed it.

Geeze...300 rwhp SCs are so common these days that it doesn't even raise an eyebrow around here.

After reading the first page I can say;

Awful, would not read again C----

They really did not look into the car at all and theres a fair bit of mis information. The car looks super duper beat too. They swapped to a K&N panel filter and got 8 hp at the wheels! :eek: Their bolt ons included the following:

C&L Meter
K&N Cone Intake
5% Supercharger Pulley
5% Jack shaft Pulley
Flow master cat back with some sort of a center resonator (no mention of the cats)

195 HP -> 230 HP (+35)
287 Torque -> 332 Torque (+45)

Doesnt suprise me..Being an east coast based magazine and no real enthusiasm at any of the extremely poorly organaized SC related events they may hold they have nothing to judge on..Funny thing though I believe at least at the first SC event they held about 4 or 5 years ago there were quite a few 300rwhp plus cars there.....

They are going to blow that thing up

You cannot post current articles without permission from the magazine. Ford Builder had recently asked us not to do that and I am sure other magazines have "rules" as well on reprinting articles.

Once these articles have been out a while the SCCoA will request permission to have them on our site. Right now you need to either buy the magazine to support their efforts to feature our cars or read it at the library or a friend's house. We will not be display current articles on this site without permission.

Back in the day of the Bullitt Mustang, circa 2001, I was one of the first to put together a list of parts to swap this new manifold onto the PI headed 2 Valve engines. I sold manifolds to some of my Mustang buddies up in the NY/NJ area. Next thing I know the editors of a Ford magazine were calling me about the Bullitt Mustang swap kit to do an article on. I priced them the kit at near cost at the time. Got a call back, " no you don't understand, we want you to donate the parts in exchange for us mentioning your dealerships name in the article". That was not my call and it did not fly back then with my higher ups. They did the article with parts from some one else, Of coarse they used my parts list I set them. I'd bet if SCP is supplying parts for this it's the same deal.

Just telling a story here.......:rolleyes:

Just breakin' his chops. Not everyone is making 300 rhp. On top of that, every region has their own thing. In St Louis, they all have 300+ rhp and get tother regularly.

In NY we talk about when to meet and have great plans but most of the cars don't run. Well, most of the cars ;)

btw - bit the bullitt, promised myself I would not buy new O2 sensors yet, so I tinted the windows yesterday instead. Looks great. The guys at the shop say Hi! and still talk about the little V6 that could.

I didn't tell them about the next time we need the dyno :rolleyes: :D

Yeh, my wifes car makes over 300 to the wheels and has been detuned to death. My car ran like butt and still made 300 to the wheels at 4000 rpm.... with some horrible belt slip... Kills me how they write those type of articles about our cars... "Rumored 300 to the rear wheels"
If someone is able to contact them it would be nice for them to at least do a follow up article with a few of the SC's on here that straight up kick azz.......

Ricardo - over 300rwhp
Chris - well over 300rwhp
Joe - well over 300rwhp

Vic - well over 300rwhp
Jason - well over 300rwhp

Ira,

Only two of those cars were from St. Louis (Me & Kurt)...Tony is from Chicago, Micah is from Springfeild, IL and Doug is from Michigan. Other cars were from Kansas City, somewhere in Wisconsin and Ohio. It was actually a TBU gathering.

Your correct about us St. Louis guys having regular get togethers and some pretty good running cars. Mainly because we help each other turn wrenches and share info. Wait until you see the SC Chris Wise is currently building and I'm helping with......should be ready for the Shootout.

Yea, I know. I'm just jealous. :D I know that everyone's not local. Heck, the New Jersey guys aren't that far from me and it's always a pleasure hanging with them. And the Mid Atlantic crew still lets me hang around occassionally. Then Carlisle comes around and I can't get the time off.

My biggest issue is still not having the time to enjoy it that's all. But I'll just keep plugging away on the cars here, breaking stuff and making life miserable for everyone who lends a helping hand. ;) It's what I do best.

I guess I didn't read the article as derogatory as most people here appear to have taken it. I guess the "alledged 300 rwhp" still hurts, but I'd actually like to see them proceed with their testing. Are they going to pursue this into any type of serious build? That mod list looks like it's about 10 years old. I'm surprised they didn't cut the bridge out of a 70mm MAF and stick that on there instead. Not that I could give a crap about what that magazine prints. They've ignored this car for 18 years. I don't know why people are so bent on getting MM&FF's endorsement. They made up their mind about the SC from day one. Whatever half azzed effort they have ever made to showcase SC performance has usually been detrimental anyway. Meanwhile, people like Ford Builder DO CARE about the SC and this community.

P.S. MM&FF would routinely drive through the WFC showfield. All they had to do was stop their golf cart (or at least slow down) by the rows of SC's and actually take a look at some. Year after year they just drive by, offer a quick glance and keep going.

That is a reason I like playing with my SC.

The Less coverage the better. The more misconceptions, the better.

It keeps things grassroots, keeps a tight knit community ( as most of us all know each other or at least with 2 degrees of separation or communicate in some alternate aside from a forum )

I have always been a firm believer in this car being an "underground" segment.

I can't imagine if I owned something so cliche' as a mustang.. ick.

at least for a daily driver fun car that is... not just a shell for a rat motor.

XxSlowpokexX

An SC will never be cliche..There just arnt enough of em..

I dont mind coverage if it will lead to parts being made or my car becoming more valuable!
