EGR Codes 32 and 35 - Help please

Alright went to Auto Zone yesterday they ran my EEC and found 2 codes both for EGR failure. I guess outside of them saying the sensors are bad I was wondering if a vaccum leak could cause an EGR code to show up? The VAC on this car is at like 16 at Idel which I plan to correct prior to Carlisle however it was like this when I bought the car.

So my question again is can something other than a bad sensor trigger the EGR system to give a fail code?

Appreciate any help not much on this w/ the search feature.

Tim, I would say no to the vacuum leak as a source of the problem, I would say that the sensor is bad or the hose is disconnected, or the sensor is unpluged.

Alright, I have a sensor from the 89 parts bin car - there weren't any changes in the sensors were there?
