I noticed after I threw my old AOD in the dumpster and the torque converter fell out, A chunk of metal laying next to it. It looks like the input shaft from the torque converter snapped clean off but I'm not sure. Anyone know?

Kurt K. recently had the same thing happen on his AOD. Not sure he ever figured out why.

PS: I believe that part is called the stator support.

That is the stator support, but I did much more....I sheared the shaft completely off :D It was suggested that the shaft was defective from the get-go.

Oops, I didn't look at the first picture. My transmission was pulled apart and inspected. Since it was fairly new and I had a good magnetic plug, I believe only the front pump and cover were replaced. The converter was also inspected to see if that was the cause, but my converter didn't show any signs of problems.

Good Luck
