Hi guys,
I need some advice on the next steps to get this car started.
With key in accessory position, I can turn the lights on. Battery is fully charged. Replaced positive battery cable as it was corroded. The previous owner cut the ground coming up from the engine and connected it to the alternator bracket and ran a ground from the negative battery post to the alternator bracket. Ground is probably ok.
Turn ignition to run position and I do NOT hear the relay/solenoid clicking. I jumpered the relay/solenoid from the positive side of battery terminal and I hear clicking.
I assume battery and relay/solenoid is good. Possible problem with ignition switch?
I swap in another ignition switch. No change. Although now it sounds like the fuel pump is being activated when I turn the ignition to the run position.
I inspected the wiring and it looks like it had an aftermarket alarm in it at one time. I soldered some wires that were just twisted together and taped them to prevent shorting. I see a pink wire in the harness on the column that is not connected to anything.
Any thoughts on my next steps? I am not sure how to identify the neutral safety switch - its on the tranny, right?
There are no codes stored in memory but the car has been stored for a year.
