Hey everyone. I'm not sure how active I will be around here, but I thought I would introduce myself anyways.

I own a 94 3.8 Mustang and I'm in the early steps of building a m90'ed engine.

I recently purchased a '00 3.8 Mustang block and the heads, lower intake, and m90 from a 94-95 model SC. :D

The plan is to build the engine up outside of the car and swap it in when it's ready. Hopefully everything will go well and I won't have to bug you guys too much for some technical help on the m90. I don't really want to say much more since I haven't made any set plans yet. The only extra thing I know I will be doing for sure are rockers. The heads I bought didn't come with any except for one.

Anyways, here are some pics...

Well...there is good news and bad news. The good news is that the swap has been done many time by some of the other members here. Roadhawg and v6sprout come to mind but there are others. It is basically a direct swap but you do have to lengthen the wiring harness in a few places. The electronics from the mustang can be used. BE SURE to use your IAC because the Mustang computer does not like the doner one.

The bad news is that the block and accessories are not as strong as the SC lower end. I understand that there are some running the Mustang lowers, but the boost has to be kept lower to keep from sticking the crank through a self created hole in the pan.

Check with www.v6power.net for some other ideas as they have more mustang help there than we do here.

I've done a lot of research on the site. There's a couple guys at 3.8mustang.com that have been doing the swap. One guy finished it successfully and the other is having issues with it dying.

I'm not really worried about the block. I'm going to take it in to have it rebuilt and the Mustang block has yet to be cracked from something like this anyways.

I would reconsider using the mustang block and lower end...

I'm fully aware of his past problem. If I remember correctly that piston was pretty much gonna go anyways... supercharger or not. If anything, the SC merely just brought the pistons demise sooner.

And I plan on upgrading my internals with the rebuild anyways.

Also, I'm working closely with Kode. Right now he's my main go to man.

Actually the 99+ Mustang blocks are comparible in strength tothe SC blocks, and the 4.2 blocks are probably even stronger. The SC bock is way better then the 94-98 Mustang blocks though. I am currently running a 97 mustang long block rightnow till I get my SC motor rebuilt. A SC bottom end is best but you should be fine for now with the Mustang bottom end.

AS for slow_v6_stang I think he had issues that caused those problems other then the weakness of the bottom end, even with a stronger bottom end he woudl have still had issues, although it may have lasted longer.
