id like to install a Temp Gauge
electric or mech. ?

Question ?

there is a temp. sending unit on the intake manifold ,pass side that has 2 wires

there is a temp. sending unit on the T-Stat housing that has 1 wire ,this one i assume goes to the gauge in the car

which one connects with the computer and which one tells the fan when to come on

thanks

cheers

The thermostat housing sending unit goes to the gauge.

Use a mechanical gauge if you want a cheaper one or use an electric if you want to spend the money. They both work just as good or else they would only sell one of the two.

You will probably want to install a T-fitting and install a sender that is calibrated to the gauge that you are installing. Either that or replace the OEM sender with your new one and just ignore the cluster gauge. You might have to ground the old wire to keep a dummy light from coming on.

so the T-Stat sending unit just works the gauge -nothing else ,this one has nothing to do with the fan or the cars computer

the one on the manifold is for the cars computer and tells the fan if and when to turn on

would that be a fair statement ,im trying to find out what the computer use's and the fan as well

as far as installing the gauge's -thats not a problem
thanks

cheers

You are right. The one on the driver's side with the simple 1-wire hookup is for the gauge only. The one on the passenger side with the large connector is for the computer. It helps the computer determine not only the fan activation, but also the fuel mixture.
