It's been close to 12 months since the 95SC became a resident here. I only had it for a month and the left side motor mount split. That's when I decided to give the motor a minor overhaul like I did on my 90. LOL, eleven months later and I’ll be just about done with it. Not that I'm a huge procrastinator but I’ve had a few medical issues this past year, we do have a winter (New England) and work isn’t always friendly on the weekends and I am a weekend mechanic want-to-be. So here’s what I’ve done.
Things I still need to do.
Some things I noticed different during job between the 90 and the 95.
Vacuum lines routings are slightly different.
The 95 has an EGR. My 90 doesn’t.
DIS is in a different location.
There are no coolant lines on the valves body on the 95.
The 95 has a pusher fan and my 90 doesn't.
- I tore it down to (including) the fuel system, ignition system and the upper exhaust system
- Installed new solid motor mounts and rebuilt the transmission cross member.
- Rebuilt the fuel injectors, installed and bolted the fuel rail back on.
- Cleaned the SC, fuel/air intake system, installed a new IAC and sealed the IC up with Teflon gaskets.
- Installed NGK plugs and Taylor wires.
- Installed a 95 March Pulley set.
Things I still need to do.
- Figure out how the vacuums lines hook back up as I took them off last fall and forgot to label them..
- Have the new upper exhaust system installed as I’m not a welder.
- Rebuild the stock shifter.
- Either replace or fix the boost gage because it’s off by 3.
- Install new tires.
