Shifter install adjustment needed-help!

Hey guys just got finished with the prostick install and Im having a few issues 1st one is no matter what I do I cannot get the shifter gate to perfectly align with the transmission gate like say when its in low 2 and I have the cable hooked to the trans with the shift lever in low 2 the shifter cable is about 3/16" off where the hookup stud on the shifter is ....ok so I adjust it to fit then when its in park its off again by about the same ,could it be that the gate just doesnt match the trans? anyway not sure if it makes a difference or not but I used the stock brackets that where on the car to hook up the cable ,Just cut the cable from the adjustment part enlarged the hole to 15/32" works great I think because I saved the money for the kit and I have a huge adjustment range just cant nail down the setting any help guys?
