I am planning to put one of my spare blowers on my 5.8. I know some of you are thinking that it is a waste, but it is not being built for the strip...just towing a car there. I only want between 2-5 psi MAX since I am not even sure I can do that without retarding the timing so far that I am going to start to overheat. Anyway, this thread is about how to set it up. Its a Bronco with a four speed in it and I will drive it in the winter. That being said, I HAVE to keep the choke on the carb. Before you go all out with the "Run EFI" crap that I have been hearing else where, I am trying to do this on the cheap. So for all intensive purposes, this will be a carburated vehicle.

So its like this. I am not going to shave and redrill the carb and body so it is a draw through setup. With the limited space to set this up (since the snout has to be moved wayyyyyy forward) I am going to have to set it up with the outlet of the blower on the pass side facing towards the engine.

I know there are people who have turned these on their sides before, but does anyone know of the downfalls? I mean, if it is on the snout side, is it going to leak out the snout seal? What about the fuel? Can it travel up and over a hump in cold weather during startup? Is there anyone who can help me with this setup?

you can run the m90 sideways no problem. A draw through setup is a good idea. Should be relatively easy to do in a Bronco

big draw back is back firing you must use a blow off valve if it hicups you can explode the blower i did one on a 283 chevy v8 used a 750 holley dbl pumper you want as much fuel as possible when going into boost make sure you setup dont ping adjust timing and retard cam a deg or two we found it made best power with cam retarded 2 deg from stock when we advanced it it pinged like a barrel of marbles better to run rich than lean so jet it up we ran 72 in front and 85's in rear to start with and lowered numbers as we went just to make sure we didnt go lean.

they had made a kit, for the 5.0 I think where they had mounted the m90 on the side...I was looking into a cougar with that kit on.

Hmmmm...You bring up a REALLY good point Manny. I will have to get a BOV for it. I am going to try to figure out how to run the bypass valve to it as well so it does not continue to suck against the carb when the blades close. Its hard to explain, but it is bad for it because the blower is still spinning at speed when you let off the clutch (just like the SC) but fuel and air will continue to run through. So a BOV and bypass valve. 2* retard was something I did not even think of. I will start there and see if I can get it back to at least 0* since I do not even want top end power. Next question. Because of the mounting, the carb will feed down to the blower which will sit over the pass side valve cover. Then, it will feed up, or at least over if I can keep it from feeding up, to the intake. I have seen some turbo setups that feed sideways and then around the front, and then up to the manifold. Does this have problems in cold weather when the gas would be more prone to pool? Or is the pressure from the blower enough to keep the fuel atomized while it is having its travel? Like I stated before, there will not be a ton of boost so I think my inlet temps will stay rather cool.
