I bought and paid for $20.00 of gas yesterday and I usually let the pump stop on it's own after I finish pumping. I noticed that this particular pump stopped, but it kept a tiny stream of gas flowing. The stream was as big around as a Q-tip. Hmmmm, so I kept letting the little flow going for a little while.
I felt guilty after I realized it would never stop, so I hung the pump up.:o
Anybody else ever been blessed by the Gas-Gods?

About a year ago there was a glitch in the Shell gas stations pump system. Using a credit card, one of my friends filled his 55 gallon truck up for $1.15. And no, not per gallon, the whole tank for $1.15. He then called up five of his other friends and they all filled up for pennies, too.
You have to sit there and think about what you call stealing, ya know? $3.18 a gallon isn't exactly humble.

For all the bitching about gas prices, people are still willing to shell out over $5 a gallon for bottled water. Something to think about.

To remain properly hydrated you should drink at minimum 1/2oz of water per pound you weigh. Most poeple drink closer to a gallon a day. That's 7 gallons of water per week. So for what it's worth, some people spend roughly the same on gas per week as they do water.

Where I live it's safe to drink the tap water.
I do drink some bottled water and a lot of powerade.
Free gas rules. They make a ton of profit raping the public at the pump, so if you get over on them, oh well. They still made money off of every other car that went through there that day.

I drink four Cherry Coke's a day. A 24 pack lasts me 6 days and it's five bucks.

You're going to end up with kidney stones, diabetes, and/or pancreatic cancer if you keep that up.

We know of all the gas stations, and which pumps to do it with.
Sit there for long enough, and the teller eventually asks what we are doing....I tell em, its still drippin, go away!!

You're stealing from the owner of the gas station who has to pay for the gas, not the gas company. They can easily spend up to $100,000 for gas a week, depending on how busy the station is. Just a drop in the bucket if you put it into perspective, but you're still taking money from somebody elses pocket.

Now remember....about $0.50 - $0.75 of each gallon of gas that you buy is "taxes" paid to the state in which you live. I know that here in the wonderful Buckeye State, that we pay about $0.53 per gallon in taxes.

I read an interesting article lately. It had to do with the fact there is a specification that exists that said stored gas should be maintained at 60 degrees F or below to ensure the amount pumped is an accurate reflection of the true volume being pumped. Means that as the density of gas goes down with increased temps the amount you are actually getting is less than the amount you pay for. The gas companies say that it makes little difference so they don't temperature compensate their pumps here in the US. BUT they do in Canada where you would expect the average temperature of the storage tanks to be lower. Makes you wonder if how much they are "stealing" from us by NOT temperature compensating the pumps here. Even if only a few fluid oz per tank filled when you look at the amount of gas pumped here in the states it SURE adds up now doesn't it? Also a good reason to try and purchase gas in the mornings when the stored temps should be the lowest.

Here in MI all gas pumps are required to have the phone number for the government agancy that regulates then (Mich. Dept. of Agri.) attached to each pump. I don't know if other states have that law, but I would guess so.
If you suspect you aren't getting as much gas as you pay for, you can call the number, and they will come to the station and certify the amount the pump is dispensing is what the gauge is reading. I found that out AFTER I pumped almost 20 "gallons" into my SC that had never taken over 18.5 in the previous ten years..

Ive had a couple of times where i would fill up the ole' sc and even a couple of times with the cougar and i would use my debit card, and everything would go as normal...then like a week later i would check my online statement...and the gas would never be taken outta my account...so i got a full tank for free a couple of times..kinda cool...

I've had that happen about 4 or 5 times. I go to balance the checkbook and there's more in there than should be. After like 3 months I just add it back in.

On how some gas stations are able to sell their gas 15 to 20 cents cheaper than some other stations in the same area, who's getting rich, the gas stations or the gas companys? Doesn't matter, because it's always the buyer who's being robbed.

I remember a time when i was first married, had a kid on the way, had just got laid off, and gas had just gone up big time... (1.65 i think it was) anyways i had always gone down the road a few miles to the next town to buy gas because it was always .10 cheaper or so.. At the time i had my dual tank f-150.. I filled BOTH tanks same pump and went to check my oil clean my windows etc (after i had hung up the pump) and a guy pulls up to the other side of the pump picks it up and puts $10 in his car.. ( i had somthing like $65/$70) anyway the clerc resets the pump so the guy was able to get his $10 in gas bla bla... I go in to pay and there is a huge line, The girl working there is paying no attention whatsoever to anything and talking on the phone about going to the mall and about all her friends and who they are sleeping with etc.. anyway after waiting for 10+ mintutes i finally get up to the counter and she is STILL blabbing on the phone about BS that nobody wanted to here about(instead of doing her job!) I say 'pump 5' she says '$10' i hand her a $10 bill and walk out the door trying to not laugh..... Next week i went back to the same station and they have a diffrent clerk (imagine that!??) and the new girl says that the old one kept ringing people up wrong and talking on the phone so they charged her the money that she'd screwed them out of and fired her.... I really found some joy in this one... Yeah it wasnt right to do at the time.... BUT i couldn't hadrdly afford $10 let alone $70 and that idiot p** me off by not doing her job... If you can't perform the job of gas station attendent properly than you deserve to get fired... I didn't have a job at the time because of cutbacks at the company i was with, and here they were paying somebody to not do there job right... Ohh well...

They sell cheaper with either sheer volume or its diluted with ethanol.
I can't beleive what I'm reading from some of ya'll.
I take it from some of the posts here that some people believe its Ok to rob banks and drugstores too. They have historically and recently had higher profit margins than "evil oil companies".
Would you rob the mall? What kinda of a ripoff are those $200 "european" shoes made in mylasia or china??? They are overpriced too, so it must be OK to steal a pair of em.
I hate to see this many people OK with stelaing. As for dirtybird, I would have done the same thing. Here they always slow the pump waay down when ya prepay, so I would have thought the last bit was just comming out slow.

This happened to me back in 1991-1992 but I had already filled up the car, so I maybe got a gallon. Mine stopped when the pump on the other side stopped.
