Manual vs Automatic axles, quick question

I bought an SC that was originally an auto that the previous owner converted to a manual, so it still has the auto axles. I've heard that the manual axles are stronger, and I've been offered a set of manual axles... Are they stronger?
 
I can't find any difference in part numbers for manual vs auto either (just with/without the ABS ring.) I wish I could get a definite answer though.

Although with my planned mods I doubt I'll be braking axles even on drag radials. If I do I suppose I can just go with Mark VIII axles though, right?
 
Some of the manual transmission SC came with a fatter halfshaft. Splines aren't any larger and the shafts aren't any stronger, only the main portion of the shaft is thicker....the larger diameter shaft was intended to reduce wheel hop by adding more mass.
