3.5 inch setup which one sucks air better??

scp has a enclosed box around the cone with just air able to enter from bottom, magnum powers has a plate to shield warm air from the cone other then that is fully open to breath.

I've always wondered that myself. When I ordered my first set-up I bought the SCP airbox on advice from Brian Herron that it worked at seperating the heat better.I still use it ,but, would like to know if it's as good as anything else or is their something better?

i would have to say the MP with cold air divider flows better however i kept my scp airbox because it looks cleaner under the hood

The restriction isn't the intake tube, it's the inlet plenum. Regardless of which inlet you have.

I just put the scp intake on. Almost feels like I lost a little power. The blower doesn't whine as loud either. Seems like I am down on boost a little also, maybe its just warmer out and thats why. This is my old setup, and it definitely whined loud as crap. Damon I agree the airbox setup looks very clean under the hood, I thought about getting one of those filters that sucks air from the front nose of the filter also and cutting out that section off the front of the box for more airflow. tion

That's true, I was just stating the deal with the diameter of the tubing.

Make a 3 1/2" intake tube into the fender and stick a filter at the end. Then forgetaboutit.

I went with the MP setup because didn't like the inlet restriction for the SCP air box, didn't like the idea of the plastic getting hot and warming everything up. I am happy with my MP intake, filter never gets hot, that cool air divider really works seals tight to the hood.

I ordered some 3.5 offline and welded it up to go into the fender well... cost me 50 bucks......

I think under heavy throttle, I am pulling vaccum from the airbox which is not a good deal. These cars suck in a lot of air.

I have an idea to at least eliminate the question of performance.

I like the MP cool air divider better than the box style. The SCP and MP intake tubes look to be the same, so I don't think it matters which one you use. In addition to isolating the filter from engine compartment heat, it makes a good surface for mounting stuff. I used mine to mount the Snow meth injection controller.

David, that is the air filter that I have been looking for. Do you have a part number? K&N right? I think if I at least got a filter like that and cut a hole in the front of the box, I would feel better.

The filter I got with my MP kit has an open end with a mesh screen filter, but not near that design, I'll snap a pic and post it.

which system is that? I like the look of it! Did you notice any power gains from stock airbox?

I just received my MP kit about a month ago....Looks just like that except the filter does not have an open end like that. And no mesh screen came with it either.

It's a Magnum Powers 3.5" cold air intake with a Magmum Powers cool air divider. 87mm Pro-M Bullet mass air meter and an 85mm Throttle body from Magnum Powers.

I haven't had a stock air box since about 2000, when I ditched it for a ZR 3" intake. Didn't really notice an increase in power but the supercharger whine was much louder. Here's what it looked like back in 2002 with the ZR intake.
