Just got back from the track
Getting the tune up figured out made three test runs

1st run 12.855 at 102.855mph

2nd run 12.799et at 108.494mph

3rd run 12.604et at 104.964mph

I put Calif in the number 3 spot next to move to number 2 spot we are getting there thats what testing is all about

Special thank's to Bob Johnson Performance and Jim Demmitt Sr. racing engines for putting together a top performer motor

Jeremy thank you
The next test session will have a Nor-Cal SC member take digital pictures of the runs

We are going for high 11's we just got started we where fighting fuel delivery problems got that solved having blower belt slippedge now only get 3 runs to a belt

We are still runing the old S-model blower we need to get more air to the motor this is why testing comes into play next time out will lower it a lot more

This is Calif first 12 second run car is all stock no glass parts just a plane double intercooler its a fast street machine

Thank you so much ;)

Here is the time slip info
on the 12.604et run

60ft 1.770
330 5.151
1/8 8.010
mph 85.525
1000 10.485
1/4 12.604
mph 104.670

The 1/8 mile 60ft are real good it stumbeled in that run runing out of fuel we figured that problem out it will come down a lot lower as we make more runs things are starting to come together will be in the high 11's very soon

This motor is very powerful we just started its a lot of fun now people are amazed that an SC can go that quick these are awesome cars

Curse its neat to go fast in these cars
I got started way back when me and Aaron P. from Nor-Cal where fighting to see who got to the 13's first I did thankfully now to be the first to 12's for Calif is awesome

We know we can get to the 11's more runs and tuning we will lower the times as we do its a blast now

Thank you again Curse ;)

We worked hard for this first step toward 11's
We are coming around with the tune up working the bugs out of her with each run

We put Calif in the top half of the list number 3 soon to move up fast its getting fun now you can feel the differaince between 13's and 12's Bob Johnson Performance and my Dad now how to make power its great

Thank's again Manny ;)

Jim,

Are you running a cogged belt and getting slippage, or just a stock type belt?

What type of pulley ratio are you running that's causing slip? Or is it just an issue with a tensioner?

Great job guy. You'll have to post the rough specs on the motor. We know it took quality builders, but what kind of cash. What were the key parts of the build up. I.E. is there an area that many of us neglect that we shouldn't?

Jim Demmitt Jr
09-01-2002, 12:41 AM
Mike I am running stock belts with 24% over driven
We are loosing 50% on slippedge only 3 runs per each belt

I shedded one at Bakersfield very bad I am running the same old S-model blower I went 13.088et with the old motor

Mite try the ESM pulley setup next it took a few bucks to build the BJ1 motor and get all the parts to do this

Its in the head flow and how you build the motor and how you tune it to work all together Bob Johnson and my father are masters at making horsepower

We are going to take some of the overdrive out slow the blower speed down
Thank's again Mike ;)

what have you done to her? Is it still a 3.8, or did you stroke it? I assume extensive head work was done as well. You said you have a double intercooler and 24% OD pulley and thats it for mods? Im a bit confused here...

Jim Demmitt Jr
09-02-2002, 01:33 AM
The new motor is a 3.8 not stroked
We did hours of head flow to get the power we have now very few changes from the old setup

New Mods
Magnum powers intake
85mm Throttle Body
85 mm Pro-M
Same double intercooler with fan
Kooks long tube headers
Special grind cam
Same old S-modle blower
Eagle Rods and special pistons
Stock crank
42 injectors
BHJ balancer

Car is stock body no glass parts with AC I want the quickest stock body street leagle SC

The trick is getting the heads to flow and making everything work together these guys with stroked out motors and all we proved it can be done the simple way

Remember I went 13.088et with and old 120.000 mile short block with just head work and double intercooler and 75mm throttle body stock headers and .373 gears

BJ1 heads and short block are awesome you can get any better performing head work we just started 11's are coming fast with each run we make

Are the guys you worked with on this planning on offering head packages for the rest of us? Coy could have some competition! :)

Jim, have you gutted the interior? There's over 200 lbs of trim, insulation, and seats that can be removed. It's dropped me .3 secs at least. I ran solid 13.8's instead of mostly low 14's all day at the MN-12 Nationals Sat. I'm looking for a great shoot out between you and the Coy Miller machine one of these days. Say, best 3 out of 5. We could do it at a future MN-12's National meet. Who knows maybe there's another potential 11 sec SC out there somewhere.

I say thats nice and all that you are mailing him your timeslip...

BUT are you not suppose to have either

A. An SCCOA member witness your run

Or

B. A Video of the run?

I can mail Ron a 12 sec timeslip too...

Chris

p.s. Nice run if that was your car... Do you have Flow #'s on the heads? And hows that 03 Cobra Running? 12.6's??

Nice Jim, glad to see you broke into the 12's firmly. I hope to be there soon in my "silver bullet" I'm doing cam, big valve heads, headers, ported blower, stall convertor, gears, slicks, etc...

We will have to line 'em up some day if we ever get the chance!

Jim,

I hate to be a nit pick, but isn't your new signature a little misleading ? I see you have combined your best ET and your best MPH from the three runs to get 12.604 at 108.494 MPH. On the 12.6 run your MPH was 104.964.

Again congrats on getting into the twelves.

David

GreenBirdLX
09-03-2002, 05:03 PM
his sig is correct. although it may not look right, two runs are on the same day, so conditions were the same. He has proved his car can do both, and because of the physics involved, it is totally possible for him to run what he has in his sig on the same type of day with no further mods.

Tazer999
09-03-2002, 05:06 PM
Yah, that sig is a little retarded...

You can't combine your best mph and your best time into one timeslip

Rather than slam him give him some respect,he did do what he said. We all know that I am right there to slap him when he gets out of hand, NOW it is time to thank him for doing what he said.. GREAT JOB Jim,keep it up... Lets all give him some praise, and go on with it.... Good job and lets see some more speed, maybe that 11 second pass is still in that car waiting for the right place to jump out....Rich

Yes, and you would know because you have met Jim how many times???

Anyway, Manny, how is that inverted coming along (your pictures were blurry but it still looked pretty decent)? How are the head gaskets and valve job coming along? Why didn't you hitchhike to Bakersfield or show up in the Dart like you said you would? Hows the propnae injection coming? How many SC's are you up to again? Also, hows your aunt the mayor of Rialto? Have you heard from Robert lately???

Rich & Manny thank you so much ;)
Its taken a while to get her together but we finaly got her runing with each run we make we get more input

We got a lot of power the ET will come down lower each time we run her we are still in the tuning stages and keeping her hooked up off the line is a hand full

Thank's to all of you its getting fun now its paying off for us after all the long nights and many hours I love these cars :)

Congrats on the run Jim.

I have to agree with Dave though, I didn't think it was generally accepted to combine a 1/4 mile e/t and MPH from 2 seperate runs. I hope you do get to 11s, but I guess you won't get to skip the 12s like you had hoped. :(

Jim Demmitt Jr
09-04-2002, 01:54 AM
Bill I understand what your thinking
I put my Quickest ET and top speed on my signuture for the Calif deal my time ticket to be posted on the Fastest SC list will be the 12.604et at 104.670mph

It will change quickly as for we are going to make more runs to get closer to the 11's I want that number 2 spot right away I havent pushed hard on the motor yet as we are testing and tuning her as we go more runs

I appreciate your kind words as you know how hard it is to run this quick for a stock body heavy car as these we are doing it on motor only the BJ1 is putting out some serious horepower we just started to move up on the list fun times ahead thank you again Bill ;)

WHO THE HELL GAVE JIM THE HAPPY PILLS!!!!..Anyway Im thinking of making this an east coast vrs west coast thing..Ill be hitting teh track as soon as I get my NOS setup hooked up and working properly..This involves me putting my new pump in which hopefully I'll have time to do ASAP..Yeah Im looking for an excuse to do head work:O)..And a blown gasket will do the trick..So I figure with a 125 shot I should make it down the track at least once before I blow..Lets see what happens:O)!!..And Remeber NOS isnt cheating..In the end all that matters is who gets to the finish first..Oh..Yes the fast and the furious is what inspired me recently to blow my car up:O)

Jim Demmitt Jr

Going out again this Friday
Going to lower my ET a lot more to take over number 2 spot on the fastest SC list

Cooler temps good bite on the track plus two Nor-Cal members will be there one to video the runs we just started to make our way to the 11's BJ1 horsepower time to turn her up a bit

Calif moving up fast its so neat to people that never new they made a supercharged SC to see this car run this quick the look on there faces is worth the effort ;)

the inverted thingy is a go. the head gaskets are here. the motor mounts are done the trans is in . the mayor of rialto says hi she will send you a official greeting on her personal stationary. if you ever come down here again I will introduce you to her she is way cool.and no I havent seen merc 65 I think he moved I haver to find him he has my code reader. think he said he was moving to upper desert.so when do you want me to make you a inverted setup ? or do you want to wait till i drag test it , ive got to finish daves and send it to him. the propane is a go ive settled on a premade setup i cant get it dialed in to much propane or to little easy to buy a setup from after market. sorry so long ive been bored no money no time no air conditioner damn its hot!

Jim,
Way to go! One of these days I'll have to get up to Sac raceway and see this new beast make a run. It's great that you are putting down those times, it will generate a little more respect for the SC with the folks at Sac. Keep up the good work.

I'll wait 'till its tested. Merc moved up to Hesperia if I see him or talk to him before you do, I'll ask him to send it to you. Still gt any more of them cup holders?
