Broke dipstick tube

Good news is that my head gasket swap is almost done. Bad news is that I broke off the dipstick tube. Anyone got any ideas on how to get the bottom half out of the block?

Thanks
Jake

BTW... who says motor mounts are a pain.. all ya gotta do is take the heads off.

Make a "T" handle hook rod. Bend a small hook at the end of the rod and insert into the dip stick tube and pull it up slowly from all sides until it falls out.

Thanks for the advise, but the darn thing won't budge. Tried it with a coat hanger. It will straighten the hook before it will move at all.

Re: dip stick

You will need to get somthing stronger and pull easy on all sides
not real hard all at once.

Well the easy out idea worked.... kinda. The tube twisted off about 1/2" into the hole of the block. I guess I'll just cut the new dipstick tube off at that length and seal it in there. I don't think I'll have to worry about the rest of the tube falling down into the pan, do you? It's gotta be pretty tight in there to twist in two.

Thanks for the help
Jake (anxious to drive my SC for the first time!!!)
