Good choice of a head unit man! ive got one in my SC. I also have Infinity Kappa 5x7s. Im not quite sure of the similarities or differences between those and the Reference speakers. but if they are similair at all you will be SOOOO happy with them. Let me put it this way: i have a 500 watt Rockford Fosgate Punch powereing a 1900 watt Audiobahn box with 3 comp 10's. and i do NOT need an amp to power the 5x7's. with the power the head unit puts to them, (50 watts each) they are more than loud enough, and crystal clear!. good luck with your system, sounds like it will pretty rad.

Well, I hope you didnt pay more than $200 for your sony is going to Explode! cd deck...its a damn shame to see it happen, but I guess we all live and learn....as for the Infinity Reference 5x7s, you still have time to take those back. They sound absolutely nothing like the kappa series, and will have you hitting your head on the dash wondering why you didnt keep the factory JBLs in. Your best value for good 5x7s...look for some older used Polk db5705's...you can find them sometimes on ebay for around $30. If you like your toys brand new, get some Diamond Audio M3 5x7s. As for the Basslink, dont pay more than $250....but for your application, it is a good fit, so I recommend it. Dont mean to rip on your system, I've just learned this stuff over many many years of being disatisfied and wasting money on car audio. If you want any advice get back to me at finalnoticemusic@hotmail.com Cheers!

Phycobob-
have you had problems with Xlods exploding? ive had mine for almost three years in different cars, and the only problem ive had is people touching it, and getting their fingerprints all over it. ARGH!

Roots...I've actually never owned a sony, just have researched them as well as a whole hellofalot of other brands, and they have in general the most problems other than aiwa and panasonic. Good decks in terms of quality/price would be nakamichi, clarion, alpine, kenwood, pioneer. As for those speakers scmaniac, return them as soon as you get em! If you paid $135 for them, I can find you at least 10 MUCH better speakers for that price. Hell, brand new Infinity Kappa 5x7s (Infinity's best) sell for $77 on ebay. You could spend about $150 and get a pair for the front and rear, add a 2x50w PPI amp, and have one of the nicest systems around your town for under $500 total. As for the rest of the equipment...that is a killer deal, great job!
