What I am offering is a Xenon Retofitting Service... Meaning Ill take OEM Xenon Projectors from a Acura TSX,BMW E46, etc.. and modify your Thunderbird Headlight Housings to make them properly fit!! Forget those PNP (Plug n Play) kits with all that glare/hotspots/unreliability/unfocused beam patterns!! What my service consists of is taking your Thunderbird headlight housings and mount, properly aim, finish it off with a shroud, and seal the lenses so it wont leak! When I am finished itll look like it came from the factory with xenon projectors! Youll be amazed with the difference between factory halogen Thunderbird headlights compared to OEM Xenon Projector Retrofitted Thunderbird headlights!!!

Here's a video that shows the difference between halogen and Xenon headlights:

Here are some pictures showing the difference between Halogen and Xenon headlights:

Thanks Hak! PnP kit vs. OEM TSX Xenon Retrofit:

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p90/mj1220mj/Halo_vs_hid.jpg

The price Im charging on a Thunderbird OEM Xenon Retrofit is $225.00 plus parts/shipping!! If you'd like you can buy the parts (Make sure you contact me before buying because of fitment issues) or I can! Whatever I pay for the parts thats what Ill charge you! Go anywhere else on the web and see if you can get this service for $225.00? They charge 2-4 times as much!!! If they even do it because of the demand (they are booked 3-6 months)... What the $225.00 includes is the labor, mounting of projectors, alignment of projectors, custom shrouds (part around projector so it looks OEM), sealing of headlights, etc... Will look like it came from the FORD factory when Im finished with it!!!

Compare my prices to this retrofitter:
http://www.retro-solutions.com/estimatorjava.htm

Price range for parts:

Custom clear lenses for 1989-1995:
$150.00 a pair

Wet sand and buff lenses so that they are cyrstal clear
for projectors:
$85.00 a pair

OEM Xenon Projectors:
BMW E46 $85.00-$135.00 a pair (Good Width/Intensity)
TSX $120.00-$175.00 a pair (Better Width/Intensity)
S2000 $325.00-$350.00 a pair (Best Width Intensity)

OEM Ballasts:

Hella, Philips, Denso, Bosch (all are about same quality and price)
$125.00-$185.00 a pair

OEM D2S Bulbs:

Philips 4300k: $35.00-$85.00 a pair
Osram Xenarc 4300k: $35.00-$85.00 a pair

I recommend using all oem stuff because of relability/durability! Why not spend a little more and do it right the first time than to buy cheap kits and stuff and actually spend more in the long run and redoing it because your not happy or its broken!!!

so, you can achieve that perfect cutoff line on the 96/97 style headlamps? any chance you make custom clear lenses too? :D

is this for 89-95 lens set ups?
how good will it work with the factory lens since the have all those lines for the halogen bulbs?
do you have any pics completed ones? if so post them please.

The 1996-1997 headlights would be perfect because of the clear lenses! The cutoff would be amazing! It would look exactly like the TSX in the first pic second example!

About the other lenses in the 1989-1995 Thunderbird SC's... Those are called fluted lenses... They can be wet sanded to achieve the clarity of the 96-97 Thunderbird SC headlight lenses... Here is an example!!

No, that is not part of the $225.00 because of the countless hours to make crystal clear... You have to start out with 40 grit and work up to 2000 grit... It probly takes around 2 1/2 per lense and blistered fingers!!! If anyone wants to do it themselves Ill give you directions!!! Ill have to think of a price and get back to you guys!!

*I forgot to mention somthing included in the $225.00... Ill include step by step instructions to hook your new retrofit problem and worry free!!!

About your question... Doesnt have to be the 97 style... Can be 89-95 to be retrofitted for $225.00... The only reason I was saying about the 97 was because of the headlight lenses on the 97 are crystal clear... With the crystal clear lenses the cutoff on the retrofitted projector would be razor sharp!!! The fluted lenses will make the cutoff a little softer... Thats why Im tring to find somone to make custom lenses for the older style headlight!!! But you can sand the part of the lens to make crystal clear (just the part where the projector shines through)

Here is a link to a retrofit clear lens vs. fluted in the 8th pic the left beam is fluted and the right is custom clear:

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1022&highlight=fluted

The lenses that he is making are for this style thunderbird headlight!

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p90/mj1220mj/thunderbirdheadlight-1.jpg

Anyways the $225.00 service will be for any year Thunderbird... The problem with the headlight lens being fluted!! The lines in the headlight lens will distort the cutoff a little bit... Not a big deal!! Thats why Im tring to find somone that make custom lenses, so the cutoff will be razor sharp!!!

But will do any year thunderbird retrofit!! Doesnt matter what year!!! Doesnt have to be 96-97 to have retrofit done! Can be 198?-1997!!!

Its lexan MR10 I think thats what its called... The same stuff regular headlight lenses are made of... The reason they use that is because of the sun and weather... If they didnt use that they would crack and pit really bad as well as turn yellow... BTW they are full lenses!!!

A question I recieved:

I am interested in doing the retrofit however I have a question. I have already done the conversion to 96-97 headlights so the clear lenses will not be an issue for me. My main concern and question is will I still have low and high beam or will I lose high due to going with the projectors. I need the car to still be able to pass inspection, and although not technically legal if both high and low work it should pass here in Texas.

My answer:

Yes you still will have the use of low and high beams!! Instead of the TSX we will go with a bi-xenon projector!!! Thats great that you have the 96-97 headlights!!! Ok if you wanna go ahead and do it send me an email and Ill send you my address where to send the headlights. Did you want to pick the projectors up or did you want me to? I will charge you what I pay for them!

Here is an example of a BMW bi-xenon projector (when you click the high beam lever the shield moves down and it shines a high beam pattern):

No he just makes the Lenses... Not the housings...

In this pic the first lens (far left) was stock then the lenses to the right of the first ones are the custom clear lenses:

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p90/mj1220mj/customlenses3.jpg

IN THIS PIC: THE TOP CUTOFF WOULD BE 1996-1997 (WITH THE CLEAR LENSES) RETROFIT OR A 1989-1995 WITH THAT CUSTOM CLEAR LENS THAT HE MAKES (Notice the sharp cutoff with more intensity)....... THE BOTTOM CUTOFF WOULD BE LIKE THE 1989-1995 HEADLIGHT WITHOUT THE CUSTOM CLEAR HEADLIGHT LENS (The stock fluted lenses with lines and ribs) (Notice the softer cutoff and less intensity, but still much better than halogen)

Here is the Retrofit I did to my 1990 Honda Accord!!! Sorry for the blurry pics!! Im not a professional photographer (Wish I was)

Started with a stock headlight:

Decided I wanted to retrofit this 2006 Maxima E55 Bi-Xenon Hella projector into my housing:

Starting to modify the headlight so the projector will fit:

Testing the fitment:

The finished product (I think it looks good) The black part around the projector is called a shroud :

Yes. To accept bi-xenon "projectors"..The standard HID is easy as its just the bulb. Here it is the whole projector assymbly installed in the factory housing. If you wanted to just go HID you can go with teh clear lense and HID's however it would never give you as good a cut as a true projector

agreed.......if its done right and he know what hes doing this is not a bad deal for a true hid projector setup.

Yes, HID's only draw 35w compared to the 55w that halogens draw! I am charging * See below $225.00 to do a Xenon or Bi-Xenon (Whatever you prefer) projector retrofit... Not just a bulb in the stock housing... I mount an OEM Xenon projector (such as a Hella Xenon Projector (BMW/Mercedes Benz uses), Stanley Xenon Projector (Lexus/Acura uses), Valeo Xenon Projector (Jaguar/Saab uses), Kioto Xenon Projector (Honda S2k)... You chose the projector... The reason I do the projector instead of just a bulb in the stock housing is because the projector focuses the beam evenly (Sharp cutoff/No hotspots/No glare/More intensity).....

OEM Xenon Projector Info (Why I use OEM Xenon Projectors instead of just putting a PNP (plug n play kit) kit in my housing):

http://faqlight.carpassion.info/projector-unit.htm

*($225.00 includes the following: The labor and customization of the headlight housing; meaning the mounting of the oem xenon projector (whatever it takes), the parts to mount the projector, the resealing of headlight lens (will test to make sure there isnt any leaking and sealed correctly), the custom shroud (so it looks oem/factory spec), the precise aiming of the projectors)

** The $225.00 doesnt include the projectors... You buy the projectors... I can get them for you for $150.00 plus shipping when you credit my paypal account... For $150.00 they can either be single xenon or bi-xenon... You choose...I dont know you may be able to get them cheaper... Let me know by e-mail what kind before you get them because of sizing issues.....

***If I included the projectors in the $225.00 I would only make $75.00 and all the work it takes to retrofit a set of headlights definitly woulnt be worth it!!! All the cutting/modifying/mounting/aiming/sealing/etc.... To retrofit a pair of headlights right, it takes around 2 1/2 - 3 days

SORRY IF THIS IS CONFUSING OR I AM MAKING CONFUSING.... IM TRING TO MAKE IT/WORD IT EASY...

Now that I would definitely consider doing, with the angel eyes.

With this procedure, since I have a 90 SC, having the high beam AND low beam bulbs, would the high beam bulb now not be used? What would go in the slot then, or is there a kit that would utilize both? (Sorry for the noob question on these, but I'm interested)

Well I could do just a single xenon projector in your low beam housing and still keep your regular high beams <-- (best bet because of smaller size of single xenon projector and small size of the 90 thunderbird housing)... or we could do a bi-xenon projector in your low beam housing (depending on space because of bi-xenon projectors being bigger because of the solenoid to make the shutter move to produce a high beam... the 90 thunderbird housing isnt big at all height wise) then do some type of fog projector in your high beam housing... Like a vw golf with a h3 bosch fog projector...

Example of my 90 accord retrofit (Single xenon projector still using stock halogen highbeams):

since you're on it... would you be willing to make clear corner lamps too? the 96-97 are rounded on the face... that or match the contour of your lenses to a 96/97 headlamp :)

Not sure about the 96-97 corner but most cars you can take the corner apart and that yellow in it is just a piece of reflector that can just be taken out... I think it would be kinda difficult and not worth how much it would probly cost to do that custom clear corner!!

If you are going to have clear lenses made for 89-93 and 94-95, you definitly would need to also have him do true non-fluted clear corners. Clear lenses with fluted corner lenses would look like crap.

Also, how would the custom lenses look with just a halogen bulb?

I would very much like to have the "crystal" look to the front end, but probably wouldn't do the HID's. The stock fluted lenses are a piece of cake to separate from the housings. I think someone could make a killing on even just offering a "crystal lense conversion package"

My car is 92. If I send you my headlights, what is the total for everything: projectors/angel eyes/shipping....

OEM Projectors- $155.00 Shipped to me
Angel eyes- $70.00 Shipped to me
Retro cost (Includes labor, mounting hardware, Lens sealer, etc.)- $220.00
Shipping headlights to me- $25.00-35.00 Not really sure but depends where you live... My zipcode is 15601 and thats in Greensburg, Pa

If you can get the stuff cheaper... go ahead!!! Just contact me before you purchase because of sizing issues, and also not responsable if somthing isnt right or broken... Just because its happened to me before

That total is $480.00 ($35.00 shipping/$70.00 angel eyes<--not charging to install/$155.00 projectors/$220.00 labor)

Try to get someone else to do it for that price!!!

Since you are doing retrofit and going to replace the glass cover of the headlights, I assume that it won't matter how clear it's at the moment? I have two sets: one is old and yellowish and another set which is brand new on the car.
So I guess I can have you work on my old set of headlights, right?
How long with it take you to do it?

If I get anything it be for the teal 94 SC as that is my show/daily driver nowadays..But I dont drive to and from work so it gets limited use! Anyways Im used to driving my 1990 Accord with a Xenon Retrofit (Posted pics earlier in the threads) and on the way home I drove the Thunderbird SC with the halogens and I couldnt even see.... Goin from E55 Bi-Xenon Retro to Lame a$$ halogens is crazy!!! Cant even describe it... People say night and day difference!!! Its more than that!!! I think the Thunderbird SC has the worst halogens ever... Especially when they are all yellow and sunbaked!!!

I have a set of 1989's from member SCvidar and a set of 1997's from member rwami18 coming... The reason Im not doin my 1990 Thunderbird SC is because of a spun rod bearing... I drove from Pittsburgh, Pa to New York City (With traffic and everything it took 8 1/2 hours one way) to pick up the car (1990 Ford Thunderbird SC 5spd) and a day after I got home I spun a rod bearing! It sux! Now since its winter Im in no hurry cause its rear wheel drive, so Im just gonna fix it in the spring!

Ive got a 94 SC and also a 94 Honda Accord. I have a set of aftermarket halo/projector headlights (one piece with corners) on the Honda and couldnt help but notice the nearly identical dimensions of the Accord and Thunderbird lights. The heights of both are nearly identical at 5", and the measurements from inside corners (top and bottom) to outer corners (including the corner lights) are within less than an inch. The only thing I see that might differ is the angle at which the corner markers slope. However the Honda projectors are also available in two pieces (with corner markers seperate) and while I dont know the dimensions on those as I have the one piece ones, they look as though they could be almost identical to the Thunderbird's. The angles at which the light fixtures slope (toward the front center of the car) seem to be almost identical as well. I love the look of the projectors/halos, and they are a million times better/brighter than the crappy halogens on the Tbird. As soon as I catch up on my bills and get an extra $100 or so (about the cost of the Honda halo/projectors) Im going to do a little tinkering and see if there is a potential mod/swap that could be possible. Anybody else with a little extra money and time should give it a shot too. Even if there were a few minor alterations needed to make them fit (and a little rewiring) it would make a great starting platform---and would be a lot less risky than sending a total stranger $500 and praying that he can truly do what he says. Ill certainly post any results once I get to purchasing, but you guys go online (ebay or whatever) and take a look at the 94 honda accord lights and compare them dimensionally and tell me that I might not be on to something here. PS--Rwami18, hope that all works out for you man!

I hate to inform, but this guy is a fraud. I have been calling him all the time, since I returned from Iraq. He will not get a hold of me in anyway. I need your guys help. I need to know who all paid money to this guy, I need your email address. I filed a complaint on paypal, and won. However they can not refund any money. I am now going further into this. I am talking to the Federal Bereu of Invest of Internet Crimes. (IC3).

It sickens me that people would do something like this. I mean I have dealt with enough over in Iraq, and now have to deal with this.

SO PLEASE SEND ME YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, EMAIL & PHONE NUMBER to ryan.andres@us.army.mil. or on my email here.

Thanks,

Good spot Ricardo

as you can see your not the only one with the same idea they do fit but its not an easy swap and there are major alterations
We welded pieces to the hood, had to fiberglass parts on the bumper, and the fenders are Accord back to the wheels the bumper was also trimmed under the headlights and the headlights mounting tabs need to be trimmed down

Right now it needs to be put back together to make sure everything fits right then its ready for paint

Did the stock corner lenses not line up to the accord lamps? that would have beeb easier, no?

Guys--

IC3 wont do much with this complaint. Their job is to take your complaint and forward it to the appropriate police agency, and it is then that agency's call on whether or not they pursue the case. More times than not, I have seen nothing done with IC3 complaints. In one case that is local to me, I saw no less than 6 IC3 complaints filed on the same person for running the same scam, and the cops were like "there's too much real crime happening here for us to spare the manpower for something like this." If it isnt a violent crime, and no one's getting physically hurt, they tend to show less urgency.

I handle this kind of thing all the time on other forums, and I have actually been able to get some scammers to refund money that they stole. There is nothing illegal that I do, and if asked to do anything illegal I refuse to because my life and my family are worth far too much for me to get screwed up because of some scammer. If you guys want me to take a crack at this, then post up here or PM me if you sent this guy money. We should get a complete accounting of everyone who sent him money.

Believe me guys, there ARE things we can try to do here. The last time someone personally tried to scam me, it was on ebay. When I did some digging, I found that there were more than 60 other victims of the same scam, each one losing $150 a piece....you do the math. That scammer was forced to pay back as many of the people as possible, which amounted to about 70%, and now has a criminal record in FL. I cannot guarantee anything, obviously, but I have gotten results.

It's really too bad this guy was a scam. I would have gladly paid that price for a set of projector headlights..

Come on guys lets not look too glum over this. There are still people here that are smart enough to replicate the same product and honest enough to sell it and not scam. Hell I may even try it out for myself just to experiment. Yeah it is too bad though I woulda loved to get a set of angel eye halos for mine.

It looks like late 90s grand prix and mid 90s Accords headlights are very close to same dimensions as thunderbird headlight. May be able to use them for parts but man are they expensive.

any updates on the possible scammer? Anyone else have any luck with projector mods? There are enough of us around, that this would be a good oppertunity for someone to offer an HONEST service... Is he still "working" on the lights or what? I wonder what area this guy is from
