oil pickup tube gasket ?

Can I use permatex copper or black or something?
My IAC gasket can be made to fit just right too?
I sanded the surface of the pickup flange perfectly flat.
Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks

You could give it a try. I didn't think the block surface there was all that smooth. I went with the gasket and then gasket sealer on both sides of it for the pickup tube.

I'll wait and get the gasket. The car has been down since June, what's another day...

Thanks for the replies

fyi part number, oil pickup tube gasket

The ford part number for this gasket is: F2SZ-6626-A.
It's really just a black sheet of paper ( maybe a few sheets thick). No fancy layers, etc.
Cost me $5 bucks. I could not find one at any aftermarket parts store. The Ford manual refers to it as an "oil pump inlet tube gasket".
If I do this job again I will have one in advance, but would not be afraid to substitute a handmade gasket cut out of ( thin ) raw sheet gasket material f necessary. I would Not feel comfortable using rtv alone because the high bolt torque may render rtv non functional for this application.

Cheers
