Hi All

Just wanted to stop in and say Hi, I have been going thru the forums and gotta tell ya there is so much info in here!!

Here is the story, I have a 1989 Cougar XR-7 its been in the family since new and has been stored in a garage for the last 11 years. The car is white with Blue leather Int, 5 Speed car with only 92,000 Kms ( 57,000 Miles for my American friends ). My plan is to restore this back to the day we picked it up, the car is solid solid solid and apparently pretty rare. I just changed the plugs wires belts and new brakes. My plans for it this week is motor mounts, new clutch kit, new slave and throw bearing. I have been a car enthusiast since the day i knew what a car was. I have had some great car over the years ( I'm 35 now ) I have owned everything from Mustangs to my current ride it's a 2004 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo. Now that car has work! I am posting this from the office but if anyone wants any pics I will post them up. If anyone has any advise for me, I will appreciate any tips you have!
Thanks for reading
Paul

Def. a rare MN, take care of it!

On a side note, they look so badass with a SC body kit on them.

That's a rare piece, and the condition and low miles are icing on the cake. Your best bet to preserve future value is to keep the car absolutely original. My belief is that, in the long run, the XR7's will be worth more than some of the SC's due to the low production numbers, and being produced only two years.

There are lots of things you can do to modify the car, but it will certainly compromise the value. Although values are fairly low now, don't be tempted to start making changes. The "survivors" that dodge the modification bullet will ultimately hold the highest values.

I hold quite a bit of factory literature (service manuals, parts manuals, etc.), so let me know if I can answer any questions for you. I owned a 31K-mile 90 XR7, so I have some Cougar-specific experience.

Good Luck,

JD

I might take you up on that one day. I have to say so far I have met some of the nicest people on this site,Always willing to help and give advice. As I said my plans with the car is to keep it Bone Stock.Almost everyone I know thinks I'm crazy for spending money on the car,but I really like the car and now that i know its pretty rare it makes my choice that much easier! I truly believe the XR-7/SC were ahead of its time, and maybe other will appreciate the cars like we do.
