Ken,

If they can get the snow off the track, I'll race you tomorrow, OK.

If not we will have to race the Silverado's with the snow on the track. :D

Extended cab 2wd 315 hp with 3.73's or a Crew cab 4wd 300 hp with 3.42's.

Mike Albee,

Ken and I are both gunning to beat your silver beast! So get those dates set!!!!!!!

For those of you (MicheaL) who may be color impaired, It's actually Titanimum ...........

I have a few little things to do this winter, BUT, I enjoy a challange, so BRING IT ........... but you may want to come early and be sure to pack a lunch because it may be a long day for you :D :D :D

Well I've never heard of Titanimum, is that the definition of faded Titanium?

Please note trash talk below. :D

Ken had a 13.6 on street tires (~1.99 60 foot) and I KNOW the car had a few more tenths in it at the shootout, and that was BEFORE he tore it apart. I'm afraid to see how it will do when he gets it all back together.

Last known 1/4 for my new car was ~13.5 at 107 mph and a 2.3 60 foot on street tires.

So you better hope WE don't scrounge up the money for drag slicks.

I do have a feeling the GTP's are going to have some fits this year! :)

My 91 runs a 1.84 - 1.88 60ft and I runs 13.4 in the 95 degree heat (with a Gen 1 "stock" blower.

With any luck, this year the car should run low 1.7s and be in the 12's so you should pray for hot weather as the car slows down about 3/10 in the heat. :D

So far we have 4 sponsors.

They include:
Super Coupe Performance
Radiator Express
Rock Auto
Mike Harms

We have several others in the works and a few others that we are waiting to hear from. The 2008 Club Clash will be the biggest and the best.

Ken just called me with a few updates...

No numbers, but the final round came down to Thomas A and Mike Albee with Thomas taking the win :D To the best of my knowledge, that makes 2 wins for him at the Club Clash.

Mike M's clutch is gone and the blower locked up on Ken's car.

Yup, I got lucky and ended up in the finals via a bye round. The only way I was going to win was for Albee to beat himself, which he did. He cut a .001 light, but barely broke out on the top end handing me the win. Thanks Mike! :D

I'm very happy with how the XR7 performed though. Ended up with a best of a 14.16 @ 97mph. I'll post a few pictures later.

You're welcome .......... I'm glad you had fun and were pleased with the car's performance. I expect you to give me a chance to redeem myself this fall .... :D

BTW, I made it to round 2 today. I cut a .000 light and still lost. I had a .088 package (which will win about 70% of the time in my class) and my opponent cut a .012 and had a .047 package.

Haha... those are supposed to be polished aluminum. the entire car is still filthy. I had polished the wheels this winter, but spent too much time driving in rain, and they became dull really quick. Damn things are a chore. I had time sunday to wash and polish, but they claimed rain that night. haven't had rain for 4 days. I'm sure it'll show up once I have a chance to wash and wax.

In an Email recieved this past week it was comfirmed that the Payout for the Fall SC/GTP Club Clash will be larger than we first expected.

With donations from Albee Digital Design and the Super Coupe Club of America, we will now be be able to offer a record purse for the fall 2008 club clash.

Final figures are not in yet, but these donations will make it posible to offer much larger purses and pay deeper into the field.

Stay tuned for more payout info coming soon.

Preliminary Motel information show that there are rooms available in CR for Saturday Oct 11th. They aren't giving me any great rates over the phone and I'm sure that you could save some money buying online thru Priceline, hotels.com or your personal favorite.

Our website has a fairly up to date list of the hotels in the area. Here's the link: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/Area-Hotels.html

I'd suggest you try to get one on 33rd Ave, Southgate Ct or Southridge Dr on the SW side of town. It is a pretty good area of town and we have never had any problems in the area. It is heavly patroled by local police and private security companies.

There are several 24 hr restraunts, convinience stores and gas stations wiithin walking distance of this area. It is also easy to find b/c it is only a few feet off of Interstate 380 at the 33rd Ave exit. (Kinda like it was at KC, Mo)

I have been on the phone with the following motels and they said that there are several rooms still available at these locations.

Super 8
2 locations on 33rd Ave SW
Cedar Rapids
400 33rd Ave SW - 363-1755
720 33rd Ave SW - 362-6002
Regular price per room: 68.00 per night / dbl

Motel 6
3325 Southgate Ct SW
Cedar Rapids
366-7523
Regular price per room: 50.00 per night / dbl

Heartland Inn
3315 Southgate Ct SW
Cedar Rapids
362-9012
Regular price per room: 79.00 per night / dbl

Mike,

Thanks for the info....just a few questions.

Do you guys usually get together and do something Saturday evening ?
What time does the track open Sunday ?
What time do things usually wind up Sunday at the track ?
Do people usually spend the night Sunday or just head for home after the Pizza dinner ?
Do the motels you listed all have room for parking with a trailer ?

Saturday Evening we were talking about doing a BBQ or go out for dinner some where.

THe track gates opens at 8am and racing begins at 9am for Test n Tune.

We will have 2 quilifying passes at 11:30 and 11:50. Eliminations will begin at about 12:30.

We are usually done by 4pm

Everyone usually heeds home after pizza.

Yes all of the motels I listed have plenty of parking for trailers. If its just a car trailer, you could park it at my house if you dont want to leave it in the lot.

As of today and based on the amounts we have collected from sponsors, and donations yet promosed, the Super Coupe Club of Iowa is pleased to announce that the Fall Club Clash will pay AT LEAST $125 to win, $75 for runnerup, and the Semi's will pay at least $40.

If we get the car count we need, we will also have a consi bracket and it will pay at least $35.00 to the winner. We also have several gift certs and may also be able to offer entry fee discounts too.

Sound Good????? Then get in your car and get to the track for Club Clash!!!!!

I'll either have to take it easy at the Shootout to save the car for Club Clash, or drive it like I stole it and hope I don't break it too. I think you guys probably know which one I'll do :D If all goes well I'll see you guys in October...if not, I'll have lots of wrenching to do over the winter.

I won't be making it either. Money got tight and it's not exactly in my best interest to come out. Sorry guys, I'm going to try for the spring!

You can ride with me, and stay in my room Saturday night. Wouldn't cost you anything that way other than the gas to drive from Blair to meet me in Omaha on the way out. Just a thought.

What he said Duane. If you guys need anything, let me know.

Now that you mention it. I'm sure a certain brand new lift installed in my garage would suffice. Are you ready to move yours? :D

Sorry to hear that Duane. :( Let Tanya know I'll be thinking of her.

I was looking forward to seeing the both of you. It's been too long! Maybe I can sneak a quick trip down to KC this fall sometime.

Thomas

Thanks guys, it means a lot. Thomas, you are welcome anytime.

Thanks, but since I'm not going - I've been told I'm going to a family dinner. Free food FTW but I'd still rather be racing :)

Well, it looks like I might not be able to attend. Tanya's grandmother just passed away and the visitation and funeral are on Saturday. I know that the racing isn't until Sunday but it's probably best for me if I skip out this time.

Bummer Duane. Sorry to hear that. Youre right, family is the important thing. Maybe next spring .... I was hoping you could make it up! Like TA said, it's been awhile .....

Melon, If you ride over with Thomas I'll buy you a Big Mac and fries .... Or maybe even a happy meal so you can get the drink too. :D

Arrrghhh......

Got the car back together tonight and took it for a drive. Still having the same issue as before, only it seems to be getting worse. Dan and I are going to do some data-logging last night, but we are pretty sure we already know what the problem is, and it's a big one. :(

The Cougar needs brake work and the tranny is goofy at WOT, so I will most likely be cruising over in the '96 Sport, unless we have some epiphany tomorrow night or Melon lets me take his car. :p

I didn't drive my SC all last week. Last Saturday my little rattle in the bell housing has turned into a loud obnoxious rattle. Started it again today and it wouldn't idle, it kept dying.

She held together long enough to go to the shootout. :D I'm going to have to pull the transmission in my little garage and hope I can fix it before winter so I can put it in storage.

If Neibert gets to bring his SRT-8. I should be able to bring my glorified Toyota DOHC V8 4-door.

Forgive if Im wrong, but you've had 5 months to fix it, right? What habe you been doing all summer? Or is this a new injury from the shootout :D

It was a funny noise coming from the bell housing that would go away when it warmed up. Since first gear synchro is out, I was waiting until winter to fix both problems.

Hey now...it should take most stock SC's and GTP's, even with a open differential and weighing more than most SC's.

Not a problem, it eats hemi Chargers for breakfast (not the srt-8 variety), BMW 545's for lunch, and stock LT1's for dinner.

If Albee would leave his race car at home and bring his white wonder I might actually beat him in a race. At the last club clash he wouldn't accept my best pass of the day vs his best pass of the day. :p

Found a video from last year at a 1/8mi drag. No VHT (it's just the pit area at Newton) and ran 9.4 (about high 14's in the 1/4) and that was on stock motor with cobra intakes, 4.10's and stock t-5. It's now running World heads, box upper, trick flow lower, mild cam, comp valvetrain, viper T-56, 4.56's and 100hp shot nitrous.

From what I got from all of the BBS threads it appears that most everyone should be in CR by then!!!!

We made it in a closer to 1:00 AM and I didn't get to bed until about 1:45 AM. I'm currently at work, but I left my computer at home

Anyway, we had a great time despite not getting the 11 second pass I thought I would get. The next time we come to the event though, I will seriously consider staying Sunday night and driving home on Monday....it's not that far, but when traveling with the kids, it definitely take longer.

P.S. If you are caravaning with a trailer, don't let Tony lead the way, especially if said trailer is immediately behind the lead car

Pretty much everyone had traction problems....no matter how low of tire pressure, Kurt just kept spinning the tires hard coming off the line.

I got a new best driving my wife's Charger SRT8...13.40 @ 105.3 mph. I was on street tires (stock pressure) on drove around the water box and didn't do a burnout. With the traction control turned off, the tires really spun a lot trying to launch it (2.150 60 ft). All my RTs were in the .11X range and I actually beat a quicker GTP because of a .4 second holeshot

My drive wasn't quite as far as David/Kathy and Kurt/Jens....so i was home by like 10pm ish. Had a blast....I'm still not quite used to showing up to things like this and being one of the faster cars, but it was nice. Oh, and we all stopped at a great mom/pop diner just as we crossed into IL and got filled up on fried chicken :)

And good job on your 1st place win in the SRT shootout David :)

I got in a little after 1am. It was starting to rain, so I went ahead and unloaded the car, and put it and the truck away. Got to bed around 3am, and totally passed out. I didn't get up until 1:30pm! I haven't slept in that late in quite a while. I guess all the driving and being short on sleep for the past 2 weeks caught up with me. Good thing I didn't have work today.

A combination of me not being able to drive and a some what less than ideal track conditions kept me from getting into the 12's. Best ET was 13.008 and best mph was somewhere around 112.50. All my slips are still in the car.

It was good seeing everyone again, as it had been quite a while for some of you guys. Wish I could have been there earlier on Saturday to hang out, but my trailer had other plans.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the SC vs. GTP Club Clash event, and I hope everyone had a great time. It is due to your attendance that we can put on these events. If you have any suggestions, please be sure to let us know.

I'd also like to thank our partisipating sponsors and let them know that thier help is greatly appreciated. We look forward to working with you in future events.

Congratulations to all of the cash and prize winners. Plans have already begun on the 2009 events and we are looking forward to putting on even better events this next year.

After the conclusion of Sunday's event, I had a chance to spend some time talking with the track owners and the promoter. They are very pleased with our group and said they are always glad to have us at the track. They also said that they are more than willing to do anything they can to help up promote this event going into the future.

We have indicated that we'd like the same basic dates for 2009 and at this point there seems to be no problem with the dates. Official dates will be announced around Febuary 1st.

We hope to see everyone back in the spring .... and hey ... tell someone else about it asnd bring them with you!!!!!

I got home about 10pm after dodging a couple troupers out , one in IA and one in MN sitting in the median, shooting their laser down the roads.

GTP guys took the event pretty much, by knocking out all but 4 tbirds in the first round, and then finishing us off in the 2nd round. We had a 4 car run off for 1st, 2nd, and two runners up for the Club money. Kurt K I believe took #1 spot for the Club money.

I'm gonna recap my races in the track forum.

A great event, for sure.

My plan to never lead the pack again has seemed to work:)

I made it back around 10:15 last night. I would have been willing to stay Sunday night but needed to be on a plane this morning.

My best pass turned out to be a wheel hopping 14.30@99 which was good enough to be the 2nd fastest SRT on the property.

We started with 21 cars.
7 Fords
14 GM's

Dave, Tony and Mike M were also there but were not in the bracket.

Going into Round 2 we had Al, Charles, Kurt and Mike H left.

Al went red and broke out by .001
Charles was defeted on a holeshot
Kurt went red and broke out
Mike H lost on a double brake out

Since our final 4 cars all went out in the same round we needed to have a runoff between all four cars to determine 1st, 2nd, 3rd for our sponsor payoffs.

Al and Mike split the 3rd place prize money while Kurt was able to hold off Charles for the top spot of the day!!!! Micah picked up the Consi cash by being the highest placing Tbird in consi compitition.

I'm sure Micah and Kurt will be posting so I wont go into there day but i want ot pass on one other note: Some of you will remember Shannon from Dubuque. He has the 88 Turbo Coupe. He set his personal best when he posted a 12.002 lap. He went back to go for the 11's but broke something on the starting line and was not able to make another pass.

Mike, my red was -.016. And although I did catch and hold off Charles' 2+ second head start, I still managed to break out despite slowing down and coasting to a 12.187@102.45 mph; sadly, that very well could have been the elusive 11 second run.
