Been experimenting with my dremel doing some aluminum porting but not having very much luck. (as in cutting well)

For those of you using a dremel and not a die grinder what bits have you had luck with and where did you get them. SO far it seems teh sanding rolls have worked best but dont last very long.

Thanks all

Damon just buy a die grinder they're really cheap. And if you want to make you're sanding rolls last longer buy the grinders lube from eastwood it works great and is cheap too plus a tube lasts forever.

Had a friend with a die grinder and some experience do some porting on the sc and intake. The problem with aluminum is it tends to plug up the bit. Pulled a tub of victaulic grease (as in plumbing) out of the truck and he said it worked a lot better than grinding compound. The bit never plugged up and the work went at least twice as fast. He was amazed.

Thing is I have this swivel thingy for my dremel which is very narrow and allows me to get way into the intake runners wheras my die grinder doesnt( for my 4.6 car) If I cant really find good bits for the dremel then perhaps Ill have to figure something ele out. I did try some lube however the rolls were comming apart. I think what I need is a good cutter for aluminum and I can finish with the rolls.

Thanks for the help and keep the ideas comming

I have a carbide bur that has cutters with the angle and spacing for aluminum. It goes through aluminum like butter. It does help to put some cutting oil on it when I'm cutting soft stuff so it doesn't clog up. Then I do the finish work with those tootsie roll sanding thingys.
