Deck height

Question 1
When decking the block what is the minumin deck height that you can go.

Question 2
On a stock bottom end with .30 over stock pistons what is the optimal deck height for a good performance gain without causing problems

With the designed lengths for everything, the factory setup places the piston 0.0215" below the deck at TDC.

You can safely run as much as .0010" above deck and maybe more.

So based on the measurements of your block, you can figure out how much you need to take off to square things up, and make sure that still allows you to fit your stock type pistons and rods.
