Cheap Lowering Trick

Anyone try this. Its not an SC spring but a friend with a Z28 did it on his car and it worked out pretty well. It was an inch drop for him not sure if our isolators are that thick.

He took the isolator out and put rubber hose on the coil spring and put it back in. Seems like a decent cheap way of lowering the car a bit.

Man that's high tech, compared to the way I lowered my first car.
We took a torch and heated the springs till it lowered it's self!

It rode like a "radio flyer", but man it was low.

In the 50's you would compare ride heights by how many packs of ciggies you could fit between the rocker panel and the street.

I could see harshness increasing and more "road" noise. The isolators do more than just cushion the spring from the body.

Our isolators are no where near that thick. I believe with the spring and the wieght of the car on them, they are less than half an inch. If you pull your springs, cut a coil off of the back and a coil and a half off of the front. Wont put it in the weeds, but it will lower it an inch and the ride will not suffer. I have been driving mine with a coil off of the front and rear for over two years now (daily) with no problems.
