My friend has left for the marines so I am going to buy his SC. I am not 100% sure but with help from people on another forum, it seems to be a spun bearing in the lower end of the motor. I am really needing to find out if there is anyone in/around KC that can rebuild it for a reasonable price. Is there a company that can do it for a good price or anyone on here that can do it?

Hello, welcome to SC hell, where exactly are you? The reason I ask is, to help keep costs down it would be better if you could pull the motor and disassemble it then, take the block into the machine shop. Of course it would require a place to do it and may take longer using friends to assist with the tear down and reassembly process. Depending on the miles, you might as well have the heads rebuilt too. While evrything is apart it's a good time to paint the engine your preference color. As far as the machine work, I would reccomend BuiltRite in Parkville. What year, color, trans, etc. do you have? Mods?
I live in Leavenworth by the way and we are having a small get-together 2 Feb in KC area if your interested. You can pickup alot of info there.

I live in Olathe (only a few miles away from where Jason lives).
It is a 1990, Red, and an original Manual trans. The car is completely stock. The guy who my friend bought it from said he rebuilt the engine but when we took apart the top half of the motor a few weeks ago it was very dirty (besides the parts you could visually see). It made us think he didn't rebuild it so the car would have about 214,000 miles on it. It was still well worth the price he paid for it even if the engine wasn't good when he purchased the vehicle.
Does Built Rite have a website?

Not one on their card but, they did move the shop around the corner and are stocking performance parts too. Here's some old info:

They did an excellent job rebuilding my heads.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did they charge to fix your heads?
And I am not sure about the event on the 2nd yet. But I am really intrested I just have to see if I will have enough time during hte weekend to get the rest of the stuff done that I need to.

I cannot remember. They hot tanked them, resurfaced the valves, replaced a couple of weak valve springs and decked them. Oh, and a pressure test, too.It seemed reasonable to me anyway. I'll see if I can find the reciept. Sounds like you've already started the tear down. Got a hoist?
