Custom Wheels and offset?

I'm looking at some custom wheels for my 1997 Thunderbird. I'm new to the process of obtaining custom wheels.

The specs are as follows:

Sixe: 17x7.5
Offset: 40mm
Bolt Pattern: 5-108

Checking to see what the "offset" affects??

Also, they recommend size 235/55-17 tires. Does that seem about right??

Thanks for any help.

Sounds about right.

Also consider that they're supposed to be hubcentric (as opposed to lugcentric) and will probably require an adaptor. Go for a metal adaptor instead of plastic.

Hubcentric: the wheel centers itself on the hub.

Lugcentric: The wheel centers itself on the lug studs.

Offset: The distance between the wheel's mounting flange and the centerline of the wheel (ie 40mm offset means the mounting face is 40mm from the wheel's center).

D D D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I should know that!
