checking on tires sizes for 17x7 wheels. One person recommended 235/55-17.

I'm wanting a high side wall look instead of a skinny appearance. Would 235/55-17 accomplish this??

By today's standards a 55-series tire is fairly tall....compared to the 35-40 series tires seen nowadays that look like a rubber band stretched over a wagon wheel :)

To give you some reference, my XJR has 255/45x17 tires that show almost 4" of sidewall. The 225/60x16 tires on my SC show almost 5" of sidewall.

Personally I think the 55-series you mentioned would be about right.

I am running 225/55/17 snow tires on my SC now. I am using a 7.5" wide wheel. I will probably be using 235/55/17's if I keep these wheels on the car for the summer. It is the size recommended by Tirerack for these wheels as well.

235/55/17 should give the look you're after, and will fit nicely on 7" wheels.

I have 245/45/17 on my car but I dont think it has tall enough sidewalls, especially on the rear.I will probably replace the rears with 265/45/17 s.

245/45/17's make my car show 80mph when I'm at just over 76mph. I think the stock speedo is not perfect either, just for fyi.
