I was at world of wheels today.
KCIR had a booth set up
I asked they say you don't have to have a jaket IF it's a factory supercharged car i.e in the stock location on the motor.
or running a certin time but did not tell me on the time rule i woulds asssume 12's and faster on that issue.

What about people that have aftermarket superchargers? Joel is planning one (though I don't figure he'll have one this summer) and Thomas with his Vortech.

Hmm.. good thing I don't plan to run at KCIR with a non-factory SC car... or a factory SC car for that matter.

i know, i coulda made myself look better if i had stopped after "settle down vin" but noooo, i had to take it one step further, lol.
On another note, which crazy enough is on topic. The rules at my local strip mention nothing of fire jackets. I assume they prolly require them for 12 second or faster cars (they do recommend helments, but dont require them) Also depending on how fast your car is, they can limit to 1000 foot, b/c the decel room after 1/4 mile is rather short... i will go there sometime b4 the meet and make sure everything is still the same, haven't been there in a couple years...

The last track I raced on didn't require the driver to wear a helmet unless your car ran 13.xx. And at that time, nothing about fire jackets.
Your track may say nothing about it because it's not an NHRA sponsored track - so to speak. That's my guess anyway.

i found out if you run a 13.9 or faster you have to have a jacket.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be needing a fire jacket for some time now. :(

Unless NHRA rules changed from last year (and they could have), time doesn't matter. If you have an aftermarket supercharger/turbo and/or nitrous, you need a jacket. So all of those 16 second nitrous fed Civic drivers will need a jacket.

Right. 13.99 or quicker requires a helmet, but as of last year's rules, it didn't require a fire jacket.

You know guys, just break down and get one. They're not expensive and they look cool at the track! ;)
And even if you're running a flatout stock M-90 I recommend throwing one in the trunk just in case. You never know when a tech guy is going to give you a hard time about the supercharger just because he can.

(Note)
If you plan one running in the 9's in the future mandatory jacket and pants and gloves and shoes meeting SFI Spec 3.3/1 also neck collar meeting spec 3.3 and helmet meeting SFI spec 31.2A or 41.2A

Jim could you post a video of the required gear?
Your BS might fly elsewhere, but I'd rather not hear you gloat about your crap 9 second run here.

This thread has to do with KCIR telling us last year it would be required for all power adder cars this year. No one here is close to 13's right now anyway. We'll find out soon enough!
If Jim says he ran 9's that's good enough for me. I'd rather have a daily driver myself but, to each his own. Those specs you threw out there mean absolutly nothing to me, all Greek.

Rod Whats your Cougar Run?
I've only had it to the track once with the new engine, which was at the Shootout last year. It ran a 12.96 @ 105.38 MPH with 5 psi and 12 degrees of total ignition advance (breaking in the new engine). I'm hoping to take it over to Gateway toward the end of March/early April to see how that configuration does in better air before I consider advancing the timing and turning up the boost.

Oh, it hooks just fine. :) I run 28x11.50-16 MT ET Streets when at the track.

I just seen the (Fire Jacket) thread on your club forum and thought I would give some info of what is needed to go quick. The Bill Simpson Impact fire jacket is the best http://www.impactraceproducts.com

Puleeasse. For what we're doing here I bought a Simpson from a local speed shop for a third the price. We don't need full suites. And we really don't need the jacket. It certainly isn't required at the speeds we're running.
And all safety issues aside, it's a good idea to have one because I have seen overzealous techies give people a hard time about the supercharger being a fully stock part.
It's easier to just throw the dam jacket on than to argue with the idiots sometimes.

I'll be getting mine this year since supposedly this is the year I will finally need one :D
They may "look" cool at the track, but as hot as it gets at our track they definitely AREN'T cool while sitting in the staging lanes.
